Giving frozen a try
Hey, I was in pets at home today and had a wee look at the frozen foods and I got a bag to just try.. Well to say they loved it was an understatement lol. So could I give the dogs a raw day or even a raw weekend? Also the food I gave them doesnt contain bone, does that matter? And is it ok to give this to the puppy since it says adult on the bag. Here's a link to the food I bought. Thanks

Yeah it's fine to feed that as a treat as long as it's not within about 8 hours of any dry food and if it's only occasional there is no need to worry about bone content. You can feed pups on raw so I'm sure that won't be an issue either

Re: Giving frozen a try
Your local pet shop will have it cheaper than Pets at Home.
I get my raw from an independent pet shop for 45p per portion, it comes straight from the slaughterhouse all bagged and weighed.

Re: Giving frozen a try
Sorry to be a pain guys but I've been looking into this a bit more and it looks like the complete food nuggets I bought isn't needed as I don't have to even feed veg? So since I'm just going to start by feeding raw every sat and Sunday could I just feed say 90% mince and 10% organ(mix off liver and heart) and just leave out the bone? Sorry 4 all these questions but I blame you's for putting raw into my head haha

Re: Giving frozen a try
I would just start with some chicken so maybe a bit of mince and a chicken wing? I would worry about the offal unless your feeding fully raw because you don't introduce the offal until about 4-6 weeks

Re: Giving frozen a try
So just normal chicken mince without bone and add just 1 chicken wing for bone, sounds easy enough. I will have to go see my butcher to see if he has mince cheaper than the pet shops

Re: Giving frozen a try
That's how I would do it, chicken because it's the first meat you introduce when starting a raw diet and if you give something on the bone it's good for cleaning their teeth

Re: Giving frozen a try
The butchers is a good call! We have found one near us who mince all their left overs into dog food but it costs more than ordering online. Another though is more than happy to give us all their scraps! We've had chicken carcasses, beef, pork! Doesn't hurt to ask

Re: Giving frozen a try
How old is the pup? We started Bane when he was about 5 months and he never needed 10% of his body weight. The most he was on was 800g per day which was working out at about just under £1 per day I think! It's just cheaper than the dry food we were feeding him before.
