It's very cool and teaches loads of control and obedience too. Just remember to wait until pup is fully developed, from about 18+ months

Re: staffies doing agility!
Can't wait to do it I don't think you need to wait 18 months I heard between 10-12 months but maybe I'm wrong . It would be perfect for the pups as she's so athletic and energetic lol

Re: staffies doing agility!
We take her to her 1st class on Saturday. The class is advertised as 3-12 months so it should be structured accordingly, but we will be very aware of what we think might be too much. Like Lisa said, the control and obedience learned will be invaluable.

Re: staffies doing agility!
You will love it,
Ledger does and it has done wonders for his obedience even just that i do trick training to keep him occupied while we wait for our turn. We have been going about a year now haven't been to many comps because of work but might try and get to the club show Friday night and see how he does.
He also loves flyball and we should start training with a team soon ready for next year trouble is he is so driven firstly for the tennis ball and now the perfect tug toy (only took me 6 months to find) he wears himself out after 6 runs

Re: staffies doing agility!
We have just started going with Maggie. She is good. I let her have her toy to chew on if she is sitting for a while.
When we got her 18 months ago she had no socialising or training. But we have both worked hard. I was worried how she would be but she was really good and we both enjoyed it. We are off for our next go on Sunday.

Thanks for that Jules, we are looking forward to trying it. And we will take on board what you said about trick training! Which pull toy ended up being perfect? Just out of interest!

Now that looks tuggable! Once her little pins have gone we'll try one of those.
Have you seen pups as young as Theia at the classes? She'll only be 14 weeks when we go for the first time and the class is 45 mins.

Re: staffies doing agility!
Our club like them to have gone through Bronze Kc first so not so much but I have seen them the poles get laid on the ground and it's done at a slower pace. And for home Asda normally sell the kids play tunnels very cheap Ledger can get through them no problems

Re: staffies doing agility!
I thought it might just be step overs and tunnels. We took her to socialisation and they left a tunnel out, she was through it without a second thought! I did notice that pets at home sell the full kit. I can't remember the price and Peter doesn't know he has to find space in the shed for it yet!!!

Yup but maybe hang on a little while as they sold off all the agility kit towards the end of summer last year

Re: staffies doing agility!
staffs are perfect for agility, from the terrier group they have fast short bursts and very agile being able to turn on a dime essential for vermin hunting. one of my friends used to do flyball as well and her staffs where always in demand for a team as they went like lightning and are so fast at turning mid run.

Re: staffies doing agility!
I want Milo to go to agility or flyball when he's a bit older - he's so energetic & quick off the mark lol (aren't they all) but there doesn't seem to be any classes near to where I live unfortunately - I would have to travel miles.

Re: staffies doing agility!
Been thinking of these for Lula who thinks it ok for her to jump on every wall and walk along it while on her walk. I`m hoping there is somewhere near us that does it because i think she will love it.
I`ll be getting her a kids play tunnel and see how she goes with it.

Re: staffies doing agility!
The place we go to is a big pet emporium. They do everything from boarding to training. Theia goes to agility, kc training and swimming there. Yeah, she's spoilt!
We're going to the N.E sbt club tomorrow with her. It's mainly a get together but they also do ring craft if you want to take part.

Tree shaving= tree tugging! Ill send a video soon well try but it basically means pupsky trying to take the tree down making mad funny noise it's hilarious.
I think that's a great idea if at least some it us can meet and do agility together at weekends. Ill do it and maybe every few months we can arrange to meet everybody that wants to from the forum.
Anybody interested? I'm in!

A lot of agility classes don't take staffs up here, but a few of us from the NSSBT club have been talking about starting a course.
