Chasing moths with a limp
Currently Dizz is chasing a moth around the living room... (He has been over the sofa, under the table and round in many circles)
He has been chasing his own tail and generally being a nutter however he has a slight limp - seems to be his front right leg, we think he may have pulled something on a walk the other day (Monday). He was a little subdued Tuesday morning so we just let him play in the garden, took him for a shorter walk on Wednesday and a longer walk today, we have checked him over and there is no swelling, he lets you touch and manipulate all his legs/paws etc and massage shoulders and all joints. If it wasn't for the limp I would say there was absolutely nothing wrong.
He hates the vet and it stresses him majorly so as he appears to be in no pain and is still running and playing we are holding out; anyone got any suggestions? Like I said we think he has maybe pulled a muscle but it isn't easy to tell as he cant say what/if anything is wrong
We want to do what is best and least stressful for him, he is still eating and wanting loads of attention just wondering if anyone else has dealt with pulled/strained muscles?

Re: Chasing moths with a limp
Happens all the time and Suki is actually limping a bit as of yesterday. If he is letting you touch and manipulate it then there is most likely no concern. Some light days of exercise with extra mental stimulation should be fine. If it refuses to heal or becomes progressively worse than I would see a vet.

Echo the above. physical rest and plenty of mental stimulation for a day or two should do the trick.

Agree with the above. Meg has done this a couple of times when bombing about on her walks. She hit a bit of uneven ground and stumbled. I thought nothing more of it at the time but later on she was limping like mad. I took her to the vets to have her checked over and they gave me some painkillers for her and advised me to rest her up. Cost me just under £40-00. Was worth paying at the time because it worried me. The second time she did it, I just rested her up and she has been fine ever since. Try and make sure Dizz has some time out and rests up for a few days. Short walks for a week and you could even try massaging the affected leg muscle, which is what I did. Good luck with trying to stop Dizz overdoing it though, the are such bundles of energy, aren't they!

Oh, and definitely no jumping up (on or off settees etc.)

Yup light exercise and rest should do the trick. Watch out for the climbing as already mentioned.

Can only echo above but I would completely rest for a couple of days (it isn't easy but will help) - just toilet breaks Xx

Thanks for all the advice trying to keep him rested... which is more hard work than the walks he normally gets seems to be getting better so will just keep an eye on it x
