help pleeease
Hi I would be grateful for any advise as one of our 7 month old puppies (we have 2 bailey and poppy) has chewed a hole in the living room carpet, we think it happened within 3 hours. Yesterday we let the pups have a run of the living room and kitchen where they didn't destroy anything, this is the second day. Would really like your advise

Normal! My first chewed up the kitchen floor lol - you either trust them and hope they don't do it again or consider crate training.
Some chew some don't - its a risk you take - you can buy things to put them off your choice but when your not there to supervise there is no magic wand x

Given the opportunity, my 7 month old would do the same.
Suggest putting them in the kitchen or somewhere safe while you're out

Again, a crate can be a God send when used correctly and never as a punishment.

Re: help pleeease
Dizz is crate trained and we were gradually letting him out in the kitchen, he had managed over an hour fine with no destruction. We then left him for two hours and he destroyed the kitchen floor!!
Since then we keep him in the crate when we are out, during the day he actually chooses to go in his crate sometimes to chill plus he is only allowed bones in his crate or the kitchen not in the living room so he knows he gets treats when he is in there.
Don't worry too much I can take Dizz for a ten mile walk tire him out and I still know if we left him out in the kitchen he would eat something!

Have you ever tried Bitter Apple? It's sold at most pet stores and discourages them from chewing

Great advice here, boundary training with the use of a crate is usually very effective, but chewing is a completely natural behaviour, so there should always be a safe alternative for him to chew.
