BARF - Barf diet? Empty Barf diet?

Post by suzieJ Thu Jun 19 2014, 17:15

I really like the idea of giving Lucy raw meat but I cannot abide giving her bones.
I will add chicken mince with what ever meat is given to her everyday as it has ground bone in it; along with cottage cheese/yogurt and fish oil, with mashed vegatables every alternate day.
So I'm thinking... the calcium gleaned from the mince chicken and the cheese/yogurt should balance things out from having bones ???

If I'm right- then all I have to deal with is keeping her teeth clean and that can be done with her biting on an antler or her rubber ball " her teeth looks lovely and white so far"

Feed back please would be appreciated

Hi, is there a particular reason you don't want to feed bones?

Raw bones really are a key feature of a raw diet, they need the percentage of bone and it can't be made up feeding other things, though you can stick to the mince with bone in it. You can add some vegetables but they arent necessary. have a read of these  Smile

I cannot have bones in the home as I'm a full time carer for my son. I have to be very careful in the kitchen and there is no free space in the garden that she can eat her bone.
I thought this diet I worked out would work, look like I was wrong  Sad

Thanks Sazzle, I'll look around to see if I can get some bone meal so I can add that to her beef mince.
