thinking of.changing food...
I feed loki Burns at the moment, but I'm thinking of changing him, he's not putting on weight very quickly with it at all, after losing weight because of last week his normal food isn't helping him put the weight on he has lost, I'm going to get him some food tomorrow. Any suggestions at all (not JWB he doesn't like it.

Re: thinking of.changing food...
Are you checking his weight and increasing his feed according to the recommendations from the maker? If he's eating his food I wouldn't change, especially now after he's not been well.
Remember if you do change to do it gradually.

Inclined to agree - if he is eating it then great - they build them selves up gradually - I know Moo was all legs and paws for about a year. I wouldn't change something that isn't broken Xx

Are you just giving him kibble? I mix Meg's with a bit of wet food or fish (sardines or tuna in sunflower oil) to make it more interesting and varied for her. As others say, if you do change, do it gradually.

Well no need to add anything. Let Loki grow as his own rate

If you check the ingredients on the wet food it will be in the region of 75% moisture so don't expect him to gain much soon. Also don't worry if he drinks less if you use wet.

Re: thinking of.changing food...
My pup was very skiny when I was feeding her burns food and some1 on this forum said there dog was the same with burns so I changed to acana and she looked much healthier straight away but that could have just been her body changing as everyday something can be different

Ahh really??? Yh, he just doesn't seem to be putting alot on with it, and because he lost so much when he was ill, he's not gaining it back....I certainly don't want.him to be fat, but he should at least be putting on something!!

Re: thinking of.changing food...
Yeh there was a fair difference as her ribs were showing to much and I was feeding a good bit more than the guide but my other dog Brody was on burns when he was a puppy and he was fine with it :/

Not sure if I would add anything if he is eating it as is. Could make him a fussy eater. Although Bacchus has been on BARF for 8 months now I reared him on Orijen and, because of supply problems, changed to Eden. Both excellent complete dried which at first glance appear expensive but because of the quality required less volume when feeding. Might be worth a look if you are contemplating a change. Can't recommend them highly enough.
