Look what I found tonight
Just wandering alone in the park when I was out with Ledger, I recognized the dog as it has Tried to mount Ledger when I have had my boy on lead and it has romed over with a lad 'walking' it from the other side of the park but not seen him for over a year!
Well I nipped Ledger in the house and took the lead back out he came straight too me took a walk the way he had come and around the streets no sign of any owners (no tag on the collar) so ended up with him in the yard. Warden only works 9-5 police have no other local out of hours contacts (advised me just to let him go again), named rescues on the website only accept until 8pm (just as I found him).
Went to take him out some biscuits and my heart dropped as Ledger darted through my legs to meet the bigger, intact male but they politely met took it in turns to sniff both play bowing but not quite sure what to do (Ledger certainly doesn't play as a rule due to lack of opportunity) they did start but I broke them up when it got a bit vocal they weren't going for each other but I didn't want to risk it and both were happy to be held by the collar til I put Ledger back inside. but it sealed that this boy would not be coming in the house I couldn't risk it and he was distressed being left in the yard.
Well eventually found a vet in the next town that could scan for a micro chip but he was having none of getting in my car (and I thought Ledger could dig his heels in! This boy was at least 30kg) and despite me preempting and tightening the collar he still managed to slip it, at which point he decided to take me back to his home. Well as I presumed when he sat on the doorstep wagging his tail. Good job I popped the lead back on. As a woman walked past with a rotty and this boy just went nuts barking, snarling, frothing at the mouth it was all I had to hold him!
Eventually the homeowners came to the door, didn't even know the dog had gone! Went and checked and said they had no idea how he could have got out! I then tried explaining to non english speakers tags and microchips!
Well an eventful night, ive missed the football, not had anything to eat and just had a bath as was stinking from the gym immediately before all this happened

Re: Look what I found tonight
He is in excellent condition looks staff choc lab cross and tbh had a good go at jumping my fence he would have cleared 5-6ft easy got the impression he was very much a house dog
Mind you Ledger takes himself off to sleep early, I panicked when he first started sleeping under the bed as I couldn't find him when I went to bed guess you could presume something like that and infact one of the kids has opened the door at some point
I couldnt risk another male with Ledger a small girlie would have been another matter

What a night. Bet it was hard to let the beautiful boy go back to that house. Glad Ledger got a little play with him though

Re: Look what I found tonight
Well I couldn't take him in the house and he was getting noisy outside given the outcome he would have trotted back home or seeing how close he was to home someone might have recognised him so I can kinda understand from a practical pov, but as a dog owner I couldn't let him get run over etc and especially as I knew he could be a bit DA (albeit only when he was on lead damn staffys probably picking up on my concern as to how he would behave as I did not know him lol)

Re: Look what I found tonight
Yes I can see that was their thinking. However, there are too many other possibilities for my liking. As you say getting run over/causing a crash, idiots getting hold of it and hurting or taunting it, this unknown dog attacking a dog or person, him being taken and used for baiting...
Anyway thanks to you he is home and hopefully safe
