Madge is grieving

Last week Murphy went to sleep (no more about that).   We took Madge into the vets afterwards to see him as we had been advised this could help her understand why he was not around any more.       Now she is obviously missing him a lot, very quiet and reserved and will play for a while then loses interest.   Ok for walks but doesn't explore as she used to (we live in a very safe environment and they have always been off lead a lot).   We've increased playtimes and treats and hope to arrange some walks with other doggy friends next week.    Any other advice please ?

I am sorry Madge is grieving, I have no experience sorry but yes the interacting with her as much as poss will bound to help. Hope she starts to improve very soon though must be awful for her xxx

Awww poor madge must be worrying for you but I'm sure like us they have a grieving process they have to go through. I hope she's back to her self soon though

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you are doing the right things. Playing with the other dogs may perk her up a bit. X

she will grieve for a while yet, her pac mate has gone. if you think the bond between human and dog is strong its nothing compared to dog on dog. just be the loving, strong and loyal owner that you are, she will need her rock for guidence and comfort.and im so sorry to hear of your loss I know its bloody hard x

She will be grieving as I'm sure you are. The love and one to one attention you're giving is spot on. As we all know, time is the healer.

hard it is to lose a dog and then see its partner going through
the grieving process.

So sorry to hear that Madge is grieving for Murphy, if Madge sees that you are coping well I'm sure she will pick up on your good vibes. Lots of walks meeting new friends should also help. Try to keep her as occupied as you can with lots of toys, a stuffed Kong at dinnertime may be of benefit too.

Wendy, so sorry for your loss.
When I lost my Reggie, he and Charlie had been together for nearly 13 years.
She missed him, but feel she felt my grief and that made her unhappy for a while.
She perked up soon though as I forced my self to appear cheery around her and of course relished all the love and attention I gave her.
She lived a long and happy life til nearly 14 years old.
