Jakarta Dog Show visit yesterday

Yesterday we took Marquez to the Jakarta Dog Show so that he meet new dogs and people.  We were so proud of our boy - he was a superstar and had many people take his photo.  It was also nice not to have people run in the other direction shrieking (oh yes they do over here and its usually young males that react like this.  Morning walks are definitely entertaining   ) and have them and their dogs approach nicely for a meet and sniff.  Not one bad experience either and such an enjoyable day for all of us.
So great to see him interact with different breeds of all sizes and see them all be so gentle and friendly towards one another.  

Not surprising that many people didn't know what he was - we were asked if he was a pitbull or american bully.  The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is definitely still a rare breed over here which is probably a good thing as there is not a problem with overbreeding or them ending up homeless.

Here are some of our favourite pics from yesterday.   There was only one staffy being shown and he was an absolute lovely natured boy as well. What was funny was that it was so obvious to see who was the main carer of this staffy and it wasn't his owner/handler.  He was all over the kennel boy and trying to get cuddles and give kisses.  Definitely not a shock for us to see this though as most dogs here are not really considered part of the family and are kept outdoors in kennels  You will see in the last photo just how much he loves the person totally responsible for him.

Yes it was so obvious to see who the main carer of this boy was. It's not uncommon here for breeders/dog owners to have a kennel boy for each dog - they are 100% responsible for the feeding, walking, training and care of the dog. I can also guarantee that the house is off limits to the dogs too.
