Rockys 6 Month MOT
We have Rocky booked in for his 6 month check up tomorrow afternoon, hopefully all should be OK. We do have a couple of things to question the nurse about though:
1) Rocky does seem to chew at his right dew claw a bit
2) 3 years ago Rocky received a wasp or bee sting, we were never sure which it was. Now every time he sits out in the sun on a warm day the area where the sting was seems to swell up into a bump, very odd.

Re: Rockys 6 Month MOT
Sure Rocky will sail through, Moo chews her dew claw it keeps them short as they don't get rubbed on the ground, and the sting could have caused a scar so the skin is more susceptible to the sun light Xx

Re: Rockys 6 Month MOT
Hi, how did Rocky get on at the vet's?
By coincidence, Douglas was at the vet yesterday - for his annual jabs and MOT. 22.4kg and in rude good health.
I asked the vet to inspect his claws as well (which were naturally worn down, no clipping required). With the dew claws, the vet said that Douglas himself is keeping them short . Which is true, same as Rocky, Douglas chews on them. The gnawing sound can be truly dreadful and I wish he wouldnt. But apparently, this is fine, or it was fine in his case. The thing to watch for is any sign of infection or inflammation, but if that is absent then all is well. St Bernards, apparently, have some sort of genetic dew claw issue (often have double dews).
