gosh 8,000 vet bill!! wound to pay it or put your pet down?

If by having the surgery Ledgers life would be improved and out of pain then even if the insurance didn't cover it I would find a way. Think there will likely be an age cut off tho where depending on his general well being it would be selfish of me to put him through the risk and trauma of surgery. Like my parents dog will be 16 in November she has had three major stokes but only needed medication so far and is currently fully mobile and bounces about like a pup but gets disorientated, walks in circles, into walls etc as it is. But anything that would take away that mobility or have her in pain I think she is at the stage where there is only one decision that could be made

Yes, the age, condition and fitness of the dog at the time would also beconsiderations the older the dog the more stress is being put on it's vital organs during any surgery.
