Toys Empty Toys

Post by AussieStaff Tue May 27 2014, 02:44

I'm sure this has been done to death so sorry in advance, but am feeling frustrated because Koda (7 mths) destroys all his new toys within minutes (or if I'm lucky days) of receiving them & I have found the only toys that really are tough enough for him are the stag bars & he's just got a Boomer Ball which he hasn't managed to eat his way through (yet). I feel bad for him as he doesn't have a variety of toys. I don't mind him destroying inexpensive toys like tennis balls etc. but then worry about him eating the fur off the ball as he seems to digest it. Appreciate any guidance you can offer, thanks Smile

My two are the same and their main toys are boomer balls and stag bars. Ecoballs are also a hit as is a chuckit ball. Occassionally I buy them something really cheap just to enjoy destroying it  Laughing

Plastic bottles keep them happy for ages too, like the 2l bottles as do boxes that they can rip up. The also love rope balls and tug ropes. Kongs keep them happy and busy.

Hope that helps a little Smile

As Lisa said, the 2L plastic bottles are great. Toots loves them and the noise she can make trashing them! I put some hard treats in them sometimes so it rattles and she spends ages trying to get them out  Big Grin

Ropes for tug of war are always good and daisy likes nothing better than tearing up a cardboard box!

I always feel bad about Katy's toy box, other than her extreme kongs  & stag bars everything else is in bits. I did buy her a cheap ball in PAH the other week which has survived. She has punctured it but it re-inflates itself & other than a few spikes been chewed off she hasn't killed it yet  Surprised

I went back there the other day to buy another 1 to put into stock  Laughing

Buster makes short work of most toys ,weve tried them all Stag bars last a while but he gets bored with them. Goughnuts are very good but he destroyed the standard one in about 10 mins so we got the Max one which lasted about 20mins the company are very good and kept replacing them free of charge and will do indefinitely. They have now sent us a Max Super strength (2nd one ) which last him a few weeks. He also has chuck it balls which are very good tho I am sure if we left him with it it would last about 5 minutes. His favourite toy is the leg from an old pair of jeans tied in a knot which he plays tug with and chews and shakes about these last a couple of weeks but are by far his favourite.

Agree the chuck it ultra balls have been great, still look as good as knew after about 4 months so far. We play ball with them all the time and he can mouth them for ages with no damage. Tennis balls just split after 2 throws and that's without him chewing on them.

Ok so everyone is in the same boat I think, feel better now thx! Smile I saw the Chuck It balls but thought made from tennis ball outer so would destroy. If they rip up a card box aren't you worried they will digest it?

Bane get's through most of his toys pretty quick if they are cheap so we don't bother spending much anymore. Things that have lasted are a small tyre toy from Wilkos which is pretty thick, and a small rugby ball which like Katy he has punctured but it reinflates itself for neverending fun Big Grin

Bane is terrible for eating the fluff off tennis balls! We try to get the pieces off him but if he does eat any he just has slightly furry poos! sick

Don't the plastic bottles split and cut their mouths? I've not tried Alfie with one coz I thought they would have sharp bits or get eaten?

Jolly Balls last Suki for awhile. They are designed as horse toys though. Once she has chewed a hole in it we use it for tug of war

Awesome thank you guys x We have used the plastic 2L bottles a bit but only when we are home so we can supervise, and only mid Sat or Sun arvo when the neighbours won't mind the noise lol

I was going to say make sure you watch them with the bottle. We keep the lid on to keep it inflated but Bane soon chews the lid off so we take it off him as soon as we can hear him chewing something!
As for the plastic, Bane ususally just punctures the bottle and then flattens it. I guess we don't leave it with him long enough to shred the plastic?
