Re: 25 uk billionaires
I wanted the 1.5 because even with a 3% annual return it would give me 45k to live off every year. I worry about running out of $ when I am old

Re: 25 uk billionaires
Stocks are a bit risky but I have one that pays a $0.05 dividend every quarter. I own about 15,000 shares so that breaks down to about $250 per month. The stock used to pay $.50 per quarter which is what I am hoping it does in the next few years since that would be $2,500 a month for me and I could get by with only working about 2 days per month

Re: 25 uk billionaires
Bank of America, I bought in when it was about $6.00 per share a couple of years ago. It was up over $18.00 a share until they discovered a $4 billion accounting error and now it's about $14.75 or so per share. Still a good couple of years for me.

Re: 25 uk billionaires
that still good i would scare me to dead... i probably put my money in an rubbish stock and end up getting nothing back
Re: 25 uk billionaires
I don't normally invest in a single stock. I prefer mutal funds like the S&P 500 index. Much safer investment and comes with built in diversification. With Bank of America though the price was too low to pass on since it is the second largest bank in the US and the stock fell from around $50 to $6 so there was no where to go but up or bankrupt.

Re: 25 uk billionaires
Yeah I worried too but sometimes you have to take a risk espically if the potential upside is large. I could afford to be patient as well so that helps.

I'm not greedy either, a couple of million would do us just right, a nice house and big garden for Rocky and possibly a little sister for Rocky too, sorted. Would love to have a big garden and a wood for rambling in oh happy days.
