kids !!
how on earth do i get my kids to stop sticking their faces in the dogs ? we have had that chat so many times before , its about Tia's safety as well as their own and why we train a dog and why we have to work together as a pack to do whats right by her.. they are 10 and 14 so its not like they dont understand.. she loves them even though she has only been with us a week but they play so madly they get nipped a lot , barked at but this being in her face stuff is the thing i really need to get them to stop doing.

Re: kids !!
Oh... My boys and Flo were older so wasn't too much of an issue here but I can imagine that with a puppy, they find her way too cute to resist.
Not sure what advice I can offer other than the usual threat of taking away the phone or play station etc. mine used to go into melt down if I threatened that

I just had my 14 year old sister in law stay, she was a nightmare!! worse behaved than my 4 year old son.....in the end I just told her she couldnt play with loki or have him sat on her until she learned not to do it.

Re: kids !!
You're just going have to keep on reinforcing the rules into your kids and make them realise that are asking for trouble by sticking their face into a dogs. Chances are they may learn the hard way and if that happens, you just have to remind them that they were warned.
I'm fortunate that my 10 year old daughter totally understands all the rules as she's grown up with dogs since birth so can really give you any tips on how how to make them listen

Yes it is exciting for all of you, especially the kids. It will take time and patience for ALL of you but they will get the rules eventually

Re: kids !!
Just keep reminding them. If it's only been a week they will be mega excited. Harsh as it sounds, if she nips at their faces with her needle teeth they may actually remember to keep it away! When she catches their hands, as I'm sure does, tell them it hurts far more on the nose!

10 and 14 year old kids and a new dog!! your brave! go to classes your 10 year old will prob be more willing than 14yr old they need as much training as dog! my 11 year old went through a phase where he had to be on same level (the floor) as my 2 dogs receipe for disaster u need to be FIRM with kids and dont leave them alone with dog! i have a chubb lock on my kitchen door so if needs must dogs r locked in kitchen kids can still let themselves in house but i know no inccidents r going to happen. do u have a crate for dog so u can control things how u feel they should b ?staffies have so much energy and playfullness and u have a puppy on your hands aswell as teenage hormones flowing! training classes a must!!
