no they have a walk at dinner if my foot can handle it - - but they play all day in large garden with free reign via dogflap - i didnt know wether it was his food allergies ( skinners duck/rice) or belly too full? or just him being silly -- think rains too heavy for him now cos hes slunk in and is sat looking at me with sad face  doh

Biscuit doesn't, she couldn't bare to be away from the humans for too long! Does he get a daily walk away from the garden? Is suggest a short on lead walk in the evening if possible, exercise generally gets dogs to do their business, and a garden will never make up for the different smells and stimulation of a walk. Biscuit will toilet in the garden if she needs to, but passes most of her motions on her walks Smile

ive got a foot disabilty and some days i cant walk them - hence free run of garden or diy obstacle course -- but gizzy isnt doing it to do his business ---- he just goes and sits by the gate for hours no matter what the weather is - comes in periodically to pace - then goes and sits outside again until bedtime

Every other day is better than not at all for sure, how long are they out for when you can get to walking them? How old is he also? I had an ebt in kennels that used to do this, his was an older boy and had a bit of doggy dementia I think, they found giving him a strict daily routine helped, so that he knew when his meals, walks and settle down time was coming. This helped him a lot and he stays indoors in the evenings now Smile

they get 30 - 45 mins offlead when walked - and they play chase outside most the day - also on days i cant walk i have a diy obstacle in garden so spend 20mins or so each with jumps-tunnel-balls etc - they have set meal times and know bedtime so there is a routine - he usually starts around 6ish pm and finally settles on sofa around 9ish

It may just be a habit he has got into, but it does sound as if he is asking to go out for a walk. He probably doesn't understand why he goes out one day but not the next, so asking in case you had forgotten!

It's such a difficult situation, shame there is no one to help walk them. Sorry to hear you are suffering for it now. Glad Gizmo happier though Wink

The title of this thread mad me laugh. My girl will dig her paws in rather than go out in the rain. Thought it was just her until I joined this forum  Laughing

Think Gizzy is probably just asking to go for a walk as has been suggested, so perhaps not the pillock you thought  doh

I also think that giving them the stimulation that you do is great given that walking them is a bit of an issue for you  Big Grin

Is it the working dog Skinners you feed because that is quite high in protein for a non working dog (although it is handy being gluten free for allergies)  biggrin
