I hate interviews!
I had an interview this morning and oh man I was so not prepared!
Woke up to an ill Banedog so was faffing trying to sort him out before I left, got stuck behind a Tractor for most of the way there and then got lost trying to find the place! I was a bit late and then got asked some very random questions I was not expecting!
Anybody enjoy going to interviews? I got asked the stupid question of "Where I see myself in 5 years"...hate that one! Also how I plan to improve the company? How are you supposed to answer that without saying they are shit in some way?! haha Oh dear...I thought up loads of good stuff on the drive home but guess it was too late then! Ooops

I hate interviews too and try to remember that I am interviewing them too.
Some good questions to ask are:
Why is this position available ?
Can I see the area I will be working in and meet some team members?
What prospects of promotion are there within this team?
There must be many more questions to ask but I usually remember them when I have got back from the interview.

Oh no I've had 4 in the last 6 weeks and I can now say I truly HATE them! I always do that after interviews, you've usually done better than you think which position was the interview for? Do you know when you'll find out?

Re: I hate interviews!
Inez you are so very lucky! and ooh Kathy you would be one helpful lady then if you interview people! I think I just about managed to cover everything I forgot just now, the only thing is I didn't get to see where I would be working/who I would be working with!
It's for an Art Designer position for a cake printing company! The lady has just called me to offer me the position! I think I scared her off a bit as I asked so many questions on the phone she said it sounded as if I was unsure of the job offer >.> Man I suck at this! Haha
Rachel they absolutely terrify me! I had one last week and it was more a casual chat but I was getting all clammy and shaky! I dread having to shake hands at the end as I always get such sweaty palms!

Re: I hate interviews!
Congrats on the job. Good interviews take preperation. For where do you see yourself in 5 years a good response is in a higher position within the company. This shows a desire to commit long term and advance. How to improve the company is a little harder but most companies have business goals posted somewhere so just have your answer line up with a goal and give an idea of how to get there.

Re: I hate interviews!
Thanks for the advice JStaff! They are really good points! If only I could keep my cool in interviews to be able to say such clear and good answers! I tend to waffle and wave my hands around a lot

It helps to practice. I actually had an interview on the treadmill once. The guy that was hiring saw me doing cardio and figured that would save time

Re: I hate interviews!
You could say that you feel bad about leaving and really don't want to but the other company is offering more money and a better opportunity to advance. May lead to an offer of a raise or advancement. Never hurts to try to start a bidding war.
