Hi newbie here
Hi everyone my name is Jade and I'm in the UK.
I had a staffy bitch who was solid, jet black with White socks and under belly. Who unfortunately had to be put down about a year ago due to another dog attacking her, causing her to loose her eye and gained numerous infections.
We rescued her from someone over the road when she was three as he used to beat her and I mean proper beat her, she was hard work at first but she turned out to be such a lovely gentle dog. We had Her for 6 years after that. She was called Blaze.
I grew up with her and was devastated when she had to be put down.
Anyhow a friend of ours, her bitch has just had a litter of 7 yesterday and we are going to get one in 6-8 weeks.
I'm very excited as staffys are such a brilliant breed but also very nervous as never had a dog from a very young pup, so I've been lurking on her trawling the puppy section for lots of advice and info!
Well that's me!
Jade

Hello and Jade.
I'm so sorry to hear about Blaze.
You will find lots of info on pups on here, right the way up to adulthood. If you are unsure about anything, have a question, or just want to show off your new pup, then post away
Most of all... Enjoy your stay

Re: Hi newbie here
Hi Jade and welcome from me and Roxy.
Sorry to hear about your loss of Blaze She looks such a pretty girl.
How exciting to welcome another Staffy into your life. Yes, they are hard work as Pups, but they steal your heart and have such wonderful personalities.
There is plenty of info here on the forum, providing all sorts of advice and information and if you have any questions then just ask away. We are a friendly bunch and happy to offer advice where we can. Some are more experienced with the breed than others but we are all here to learn and help. I am a proud owner of my very first Staffy (currently 5 months) and this forum has been a real helping hand. I could sit and browse for hours............oh, hang on....I DO sit and browse for hours
Looking forward to photos of your new pup when you have some to share

Re: Hi newbie here
I have been lurking and reading and you all seem very friendly and helpful.
I have joined previous dog forums in the past and have found if you don't know something basic you get jumped on and hounded for having the dog.
I don't see any of that here so I plan on putting my feet up and getting comfy. Lol.
I have lots of questions especially regarding raw feeding and want to get organised before I get her!
Thanks for the welcome.

Re: Hi newbie here
, welcome from me and my girls.
So sorry about your gorgeous girl Blade, she looks so sweet in her pic.
I've been on the forum for around 3 weeks now and although I have a 14 year old and an 18 month old, I have learned many new and different things about the breed.
Like other members I sit and browse on here for hours at a time especially when I'm looking at so many gorgeous staff pics

Re: Hi newbie here
I can't wait to get her! I can't help but feel that 6 weeks is a bit early? Isn't it normally 8 weeks?
I don't want to separate mum and pup prematurely so what would you recommend?
We are going to see the pups on Tuesday so they will be 4 days old! I get the pick of the litter, wooo!

Hi Jade & welcome!
That was one of the things that first attracted me to this site - it didn't matter how much or little you knew!
I think that 6 weeks is too young - they learn so much from their mother & siblings in the last 2 weeks until they're 8 weeks that you can't teach them yourself. In fact the KC insist that breeders who are registered with them do not let their pups go until they are 8 weeks old. Try to wait till 8 weeks if you can.

Re: Hi newbie here
I thought so and obviously want to do best by the pup so didn't want to take it too early.
Thank you!

Re: Hi newbie here
Hello
You will not be able to see much definition to the dog at 4 days only colour so if you are having pick of the litter you would be better choosing at 4-6 weeks. Having said that im suprised that the breeder is letting people veiw at so early the mother will be stressed and infections at large
