Why I should have listened to the OH

We took Suki to the dam a couple of days ago and there were some hawks. There were signs in Japanese warning that since people have fed them they will go after food if you eat out in the open. I said that was ridiculous and that haws eat rodents and fish not roast beef sandwiches.

Well I should have listened because I had Suki sit and wait while I was eating and the hawk went right for my sandwich from behind. I didn't see it coming but I felt it at the last second and moved my hand out of its grasp. Ended up getting a small scratch from the talons which could have been alot worse. I thought Suki should have seen it but she was focused on the sandwhich but was very displeased after the fact and wanted to chase the hawk but couldn't figure out how since it was flying around.

Oh gosh J could have been awful, glad your ok and Yes always listen to a woman!   

That's a good rule of thumb but at least I saved the sandwich   

We have a similar issue here with red kites, people have been feeding them and now take things whenever they can.

I don't do birds, that must have been terrifying lol! I grew up in Cornwall and had so many seagulls steal my pasties it was unreal!! Little beggars

The seagulls I know are bad since I grew up on the beach but I just didn't think a hawk would do that.
