Supplements - Joint supplements Empty Joint supplements

Post by Highlands-Brody Tue Mar 25 2014, 18:40

Hey. Is there any good joint supplements I can use to help prevent joint problems? Or is it only advisable to give him supplements if he's actually got a problem.

Thanks

Fish oil is a good one, I'm not the best to comment as Moo has arthritis so is on a few supplements for a reason, all of which are natural so I don't see a reason why not.

Douglas gets a teaspoon of cod liver oil in his porridge every night before he goes (or goes back, more accurately) to bed. Last walk of the day, small bowl porridge, bed. Cod liver is good for joints I believe. It makes his coat healthy and glossy and, unlike (most) humans, he loves the taste.

Great thanks.
I went into eBay and ended up buying fish oil and glucosamine flexible joint pills.

Fish oil has essential fatty acids that are excellent for joint health and their coat. The glucosamine and chronidin are good as well and all can be used for joint health before a problem develops. We use dried fish as a treat for Suki and she really likes them.

MSM is amazing for joints for dogs as well as us humans. I swear by it personally. A friend who's old dog was having A LOT of problems moving was like a puppy again once after a couple of weeks after she tried it at my recommendation. There are many health benefits of MSM so no reason not to start using it now before they have problems. You will find MSM with Glucosamine supplements but I prefer using just MSM Smile

I like to run with Calvin so want to take action before any problems occur, I give him at least one portion of oily fish per week, this is usually tinned mackerel, he also has some dental sticks that have glucosamine and chondroitin added to them, his training treats contain omega 3 and fish oils.

My two get a chickens foot each every day. Not exactly a supplement but loads of glucosamine in it so does the same thing and is fun to watch them munch it.
