a new level
We all no some daft people will embarrass themselves and do strange things to avoid your staffy because they believe stupid stuff about them, most probably what theyve read in the sun newspaper but yesterday it reached a whole new level for me when i turned around to see where my dog was he was stood on top of the hill looking at this woman at the bottom of the hill hiding behind a tree he was probably puzzled to why she was doing this so i shouted him and he came then i turned and said to the woman "he wont do anything hes just stood wondering why there's a lady hiding in the tree's" she didn't really have anything to say after that and we walked on but i thought that was really strange i don't think these people realise you wouldn't walk your dog of the lead if it was going to go around biting people would you

Maybe your dog thought she was playing hide and seek and wanted to join in with her

Re: a new level
Some people are extremely frightened of (all) dogs.
About six months ago I was walking R on lead down a busy shopping street in London. Nobody paid any attention but then a ten-year-old boy spotted him and he began screaming and screaming. He then ran into a shop and continued screaming loudly from behind the glass window and staring at my dog.
He looked quite insane but he was Middle-Eastern and I've often had the experience of people from the Emirates or whatever who are in London for holiday freaking out because of the pet dogs, as dogs are not part of their culture and women, particularly, are taught to avoid and be scared of them because of fairly elaborate and time-consuming religious purification you have to go through rituals if a dog touches you.
All this was explained to me one day by a kind woman from Oman.
The ten-year-old boy, though, was weird.

When I lived in Bristol there were lots of people in my street from different countries and cultures that would run away when I was walking Biscuit, she even got called a "rat" and somebody spat at her?! Rude!

I guess part of the issue is that some people do I don't trust a lot of dog owners and I'm comfortable around dogs
I've been warned by my dad that down the road from him there is a Staffy that keeps getting let out and Yesterday it kept pestering their springer collie x she is 15+ partially blind and typical snappy collie when she isn't happy and dad said it got really quite snarly at my dad when he tried to shoo it away. Luckily we haven't come across it when I have been walking Ledger

Re: a new level
I`ve had a strange reaction from a taxi driver when taking Lula to the vets. I use the firm all the time and they know me well. I`m always upfront and tell them i have a dog. There is a £2 extra charge for having a dog in the taxi. the driver is a black gentleman and the first time he kept asking me if she was sick. i explained it was just injections but could tell he did not believe me. Lula was sat on my lap being perfectly behave and he then asked did she just bite me. Lula was only 8 weeks old at the time and had not made a sound.
Last week we had to go to the vets to get her weighed and it was the same driver. These time he insisted i sat in the front with Lula.
The driver is uneasy with dogs but keeps accepting the fair. I`ve had other drivers from the firm and they have been great. a few even refuse to take the extra charge from me.
Last time we walked back from the vets because i did not want to risk getting the driver. Its a long walk and be too much for Lula to do there and back.
