Aww poor boy!
Have you tried a desensitisation cd? Might be worth giving it a go - they have ones just for fireworks but they also have ones for other noises.

My Harry is the same. If the gate bangs even once he gets himself
in quite a state. He never used to be like it. As a puppy I made
sure he was used to most noises including shooting but now he won't
go outside if anything is banging.

Yep I've tried these, unfortunately staffys are smart and can tell the difference between the tv and scary stuff outside infact Ledger likes watching the new year fireworks on tv

Re: sam is a werido
Bless him, he prefers to be at home with his dad. My two change into lap dogs as soon as they get through the door...sensitive lil buggers they are too. He obv feels safer with you mate. To me that is one of the best things you can give a dog.

Re: sam is a werido
Ahhh poor Sam, he maybe has a fear of the unknown while out at the park, try to give him lots of encouragement when out and lots of praise when he does well, could you take a favourite toy with you as a support.

Re: sam is a werido
Bless him! My friends Rotti does this, randomly started at about 4 and has been that way since! She's tried cd's and all sorts but to no avail. Biscuit has gone the opposite way and is fine with noises on walks now, other than fireworks. Not really sure how we fixed it though!
