My First Production Beer
Well, 5 years of dreaming are finally paying off... not literally of course, but that's not the important thing... wait... doh!
Either way, after money scraping, courses in wiring, studies, scrap heaps for parts, used equipment being refitted, and a basement, my first production level beer finally came off the line.
A ruby ale that is finally past "drinkable" into "enjoyable", affordable and easier to make on-mass, and pure enough that we can legally bottle it. Some of the stuff I was making earlier almost made me go blind I swear!
A couple friend of mine, all with different beer tastes, got together and decided to pursue the unlikely canadian dream... make beer. With our Pilsner fiend, our Lagerboy, and myself "God of Ales" (self proclaimed) our adventure started, and now is nearing awesome levels previously unknown.
While it will be some time before we make any headway as an actual business, and probably longer before our ale-house is finally built and running, and much much longer to actually decide on a company name and bottling label, we've finally completed step 1-3 to satisfaction. (Business model on our wall is below)
Step 1) Make Lager --> Sell to Hillbilly Canadians
Step 2) Make Pilsners --> Get drunk on own product
Step 3) Make Ale --> In order to shut Braden up that we need an Ale too.
Step 4) ???????
Step 5) Make $$$
It took just shy of a year of production to make an ale that's actually good enough to drink on our standards. We aimed for better than brewed and available in Canada. We have a few lagers, a pilsner, and a novelty flavoured rhubarb beer (don't judge us!), the head of our ale department ( <-- This guy! [me]) finally produced something to add.
I figure the closest approximation I can give you is a slighty toffee-er (word?) Hobgoblin (if you're familiar with the works of Britians Wychwood Breweries).
Sorry. Just pumped. Had to share it with people.
