Play date
Koda (5 mths) had his 1st play date yest with our friends staffy (7 months), unfortunately Koda came out worse off and left with 2 teeth missing, a 30mm cut to his cheek and a cut tongue. Poor baby had a bath when he got home as couldn't tell how much damage there was (blood on his white head looked terrible of course), then fell asleep at 6pm & slept 12 hours (with just a quick toilet break during - on my bedroom floor !!!! ). Poor baby ! Hope he's feeling much better today (we're both at work)

Re: Play date
Oh dear! Had either of them played properly with dogs before? May just need to learn the rules of calm play!

Re: Play date
I would be so upset! I hope he feels better soon. That 2 months difference in age sounds like it made a real difference! His pride may be dented.
Has the other Pup got more dog/dog play experience?

Re: Play date
Spot on, the other pup has more play experience and was super excited but a little bigger & once pinned down there was no getting up for Koda. He'll be fine, just feel a little bad for him as thought he'd love it and sure he did but sure he's glad to be home again lol. x

Re: Play date
We had a 1yr old Boy Stafford when we rescued a 1yr old Girl Stafford. She made the Boy look like a naïve fool. She knew every trick in the book. Over the next few months he learnt so much (never as wiley as the Girl) but it paid off big time when he played with other Dogs up the Park.
One day all those hard play lessons that Koda is on the receiving end of will pay off in different company. You will have a quiet smile to yourself and remember this conversation lol.

oh dear
sounds like koda has learned his 1st lesson in life. our peppa whos 13 days younger than koda had her 1st date experience at 10 weeks and her ear was bitten by her am-staff uncle
but she will stop at nothing. we just got back from the park this time she beat a golden retriver double her size. this girl has endless stamina (god help us...) comparing to the 2 staffies we had before.
