Will this increase our bond?
So for the last week I've been weak and let spud up on the couch where he lies on top of my legs, will it help us bond as he's gettin lots of contact with me now rather than him in his bed me on the couch. And he's more or less asking to get up with me every night now but he's gettin big and heavy now

Re: Will this increase our bond?
I don't think it will be the bed soon as I can't trust him not to wreck the room as I'm a deep sleeper once I conk out, and if he jumps off the bed I know I'll waken up to mayhem lol

You need your snuggles, I wonder what's wrong if Daisy doesn't get on the sofa with me! Staffies love human contract so I do think it increases the bond

Re: Will this increase our bond?
Yeah it's actually quite comforting when he's asleep on my legs but I'm just worried about in another couple of months when he's grew again and taking up the hole couch I said at the start he wouldn't be on the couch or bed but I've already gave in with the couch

The sofa the bed Zara gets the lot. Even run of the house when we out. We've been so lucky. She's been really good. The garden is another story though!!! I love my snuggles with her. I feel it keeps her calmer and happier when she with us.

Re: Will this increase our bond?
Sazzle It's so good to feel them close by. Although I sometimes have to manoeuvre Zara in the middle of the night as she can take over the bed. She's so good though when my three year old daughter decides to get in (most nights around 3am) Zara will always move to the end of the bed on her side. My poor hubby is nearly falling out of bed

I'd say so! Biscuit doesn't sleep in my bed because she doesn't settle and growls at any noise she thinks may be an "intruder" but she's always having snuggles on the sofa

m4rkj Our Zara likes to be at my daughters feet too ( I only allow it in our bed though ) Hope he settles in your bed tonight we didn't allow Zara to sleep upstairs for a while but it really helped settle her and she sleeps all night. She's very lazy in the mornings

Re: Will this increase our bond?
He will calm down once he realises that bed = amazing sleep time! When Bane first came up a couple of mornings he would just jump all over your face, bite your ears, nose the duvet anything he could get hold of and just want to wrestle! But now he will jump up, give you a kiss and then go off under the covers to the bottom of the bed and snooze!
He also gets sofa snugs with me in the evenings! Never interested in snugging the OH if I am there so maybe we have bonded more as I spend more time with him

Re: Will this increase our bond?
Oh Mark I had to chuckle I reckon all our staffys are the same coz I too said definitely no sofa & no bed, now he has his own lounge chair but I've been soft & he climbs up on the other two sofas although he doesn't stay there long (his choice), and he sleeps in his bed in our room now and around 4-5am I pull him up on to the end of our bed where he stays as long as poss. They have us all wrapped round their fingers!!!!!

Re: Will this increase our bond?
Bacchus is the only dog I've ever allowed on the settee. The staffie is a very gregarious breed and they crave human contact, and besides, I find his cuddles relaxing. It doesn't necessarily follow that if you allow him on the settee that he will invade your bed. As with everything you need to set boundaries and be consistent. I disallowed Bacchus entry to the bedroom because of his bum burps when he was little and, although this is no longer an issue since switching to BARF, he knows he is not allowed on the bed. He does however come up to briefly say good morning when he hears me stir but must remain on the floor. Bacchus is my first staffie but I learned very quickly, with a lot of sound advice on this forum, that you must set boundaries as the staff is a very intelligent and strong willed little dog who will exploit any chink in your resolve. But this doesn't mean you can't spoil Spud anyway. How can you not? He's a wee cracker. Where's the pics by the way??

Re: Will this increase our bond?
Lucy is 6 months, when she is ready for bed she looks up at the ceiling whimpers or gives a loud yawn. I go up first and get into bed then Lucy follows with hubby.
She snuggles down between us for a little while; then goes down to the bottom of the bed. She is as good as gold and only moves when I get out of bed in the morning.
As to what will happen when we get our other puppy in July; I have know idea we will just have to wait to see if she want's to stay downstairs with him.

Snoop was allowed onto the bed and loved snuggling up with me. Lula is not really allowed upstairs because she chews everything in sight she gets loads of cuddles on the coach

I don't have an issue with people allowing their fur babies into their beds but we have 3 cats who were here first so if a 20 kilo staffie got in too the OH and I would have to move to the couch.

Well tried him in the bed last night and he lasted about 10 mins, he thought it was play fight time and decided he was gonna eat me instead of go to sleep so put him in his bed and he was sleeping within minutes, crazy dog.
