need some advice , Diesel recall has got really bad , to the point that today it took me over 20 mins to get him back on his lead,( we usually go out with his boomer ball but that has started to cut his nose ,it needs another sanding)so no ball , he thought no recall , advice needed on how to get recall 100% , at 1st i thought it was because he was on meds for demodex which he hated had to be given orally
,but not had them now for 2wks  Rolling Eyes

Go back to basics and keep the training sessions short 5 - 10 minutes, give lots of praise when Diesel gets things right and end on something he can do well

What's his motivation? Is he foodie/toy oriented/praise oriented or one of those really special dogs that doesn't care about anything?! Have you gotten into the habit of chasing when he won't go back on the lead? Why did it take so long to get him back on?

I haven't let Toots off yet, but use a long line when walking and take extra special treats (ones she doesn't get at home). When I say 'come' she usually does as tasty bit of turkey irresistible!  Smile

i always take treats and my dog whistle on walks and do regular recalls while we are out i only let willow off though. chester has anextendable lead as he is not dog friendly. i never tell her off using recall (if shes been bad) as i dont want her to feel anything negative about recall so i only ever use it in a positive way (hope that made sense)
