Hello there!
Hi,
Me and my wife have recently rescued a staffy from our local shelter. His name now is Mambo and he is between 1 and 2 years old. I probably will need some tips and tricks about our new doggy
On this occasion I would like to share some photos of Mambo
These were taken when he was in shelter:

Mambo is such a sweetheart. We don't know anything about his past but he's most well behaved dog I have ever met, straight out from the shelter. However he's also the clumsiest. He trips on stuff and bashes his head on things when walking and looking some other way etc.
Anyways it's an instant love for us and Mambo. He's here to stay

Well, I'm a bit concenrned about to things really:
1.
We don't know anything about his past because he has been found as a stray (with 2 pups actually ) so we don't know anything about his origin either. I have heard that American Staffies and American Pit Bulls are banned in UK. I have looked over the interned for different staffy pics and actually noticed that most of British Staffordshire Bull Terriers are slightly lower and more stocky than American Staffy type, and Mambo actually is rather higher on his legs and comparing to the pictures on Wikipedia etc. it looks more like stereotypical American Staffy... Do you think that Mambo might be taken for American Staffy or not? He is registered on his microchip as Stafforshire Bull Terrier so it all should be cool... I just don't want to get in any trouble and most importantly loose him, because he is such an angel...
2.
Do you think he is a bit too skinny? Unfortunatelly I can't check his weight at the moment...
Finally, a photo of Mambo and my wife:

Re: Hello there!
I think he looks absolutley fine, and I certainly would not worry. I'm not too hot on my banned breeds but he wouldn't have been re-homed if there was any concern. Staffy's honestly do come in all shapes and sizes, especially as crosses, you just need to look at mine to know that lol!!
As for his past, he will settle with you so quickly, they are such loving dogs, so eager to please and ever so loyal, I don't think he looks skinny at all, you ideally should be able to feel there ribs to the touch but not see them, but again all dogs are different. You'll be able to judge if his food needs to be uped or scaled down. It will all come in time!

Re: Hello there!
Hi & welcome!
What a handsome lad Mambo is, and I don't think you need to worry about him being anything other than staffy! For a start the rescue organisation wouldn't have been able (by law) to rehome him if they thought he was pit bull/amstaff. And secondly he doesn't look like one anyway!
As to him being skinny, I think he looks just about right from the 3rd pic - nice & fit looking!

Thanks a lot everyone. I will make up a gallery for Mambo's pics as soon as I figure out how
I have got some more questions but I will find a right topic for them. No one likes messy forums
