Rescue photos: before and after
Some interesting/upsetting/uplifting pictures of rescue dogs, before and after:
http://mashable.com/2014/02/27/shelter-dogs-before-after/?utm_cid=mash-prod-email-topstories&utm_emailalert=daily&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily
Hope this is not too off-topic. At least Birdie, Bluebell and Hudson look as if they may be related to our little ladies and gentlemen.
Good to see that all these dogs, of whatever breed, have got a fresh chance in (hopefully) a good home. As may have been said before: there is no such thing as a rescue dog: it's just a dog.

Re: Rescue photos: before and after
As horrendous as it is that they were allowed to get to this state to begin with, I love to see the after photo's! We used to do this in kennels that I worked in, sometimes the pedigree dogs that require a lot of grooming are the worst cases, my worst was a cocker spaniel that had 7kg of matted hair! The skin on his feet was starting to rot and the smell was just unbearable, the relief on his little face when we shaved it off and treated the fleas!! Loved him, went to a wonderful new home too!

Re: Rescue photos: before and after
Although I know that these stories/dogs have a happy outcome I still find it so difficult to look at the pictures because my brain and emotions cannot comprehend how any so called Human could let any creature get into that condition.
Believe me, in my youth I was no angel. I grew up in a tough part of South London and, if I say I was a die hard Millwall supporter during the notorious period of the late 70s/80s you will understand.
I associated with some very tough and ruthless people. NONE of those people would have let an animal get into that condition.
PS. I have matured and am not the person anymore! Please don't judge me too harshly.

I know. I sometimes confess to far too much here because I know you are reasonable and understanding people. I am like Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, I post things and then think "I shouldn't have told them that"

We've all got a past Mine hasn't exactly been saintly either but I feel i'm making up for it! Understand what you're saying though, I've spent 5 years working in rescue kennels and I'm no closer to understanding humanity.

Re: Rescue photos: before and after
I think part of the difficulty I have in looking is because I start wondering about the ones that don't get rescued in time. I am usually an optimist but just can't stand innocent and no doubt loyal dogs being treated that way.

Re: Rescue photos: before and after
Totally understand, it's something that you just have to block out ultimately because you really cannot save them all. It's hideous, but it's never ending. For every 5 that get help 5 are sent back to their homes or pts due to lack of space or funds. This is why I will always rescue, I don't usually preach about this and truly feel that everybody should have their own choice whether to buy or rescue, but knowing that every empty kennel means another dog being given the opportunity to get help will always reside in my mind.

Re: Rescue photos: before and after
Its great to see how they have recovered, its just abysmal they were allowed to get into that state to begin with. I really don't get people at all, funny enough my american friend told me of an appauling case in Texas concerning a man named Brent Justice.....if anyone decides/has the stomach to read about him you will see how ironic his surname is.....and his disgusting rat of a girldfriend what they did.
It reminds me of a great quote funnily enough off family guy, when Brian (hes the pet dog for those who don't watch it) says..Dog is mans best friend but what manner of friend is man? To be honest I have no tolerance for people who abuse animals at the end of it all they are just bullies and cowards.

Hate the before pics but love the after photos
Trying to focus on the positives and in turn thank the amazing people that work so hard in rescues. To think of the people that cause suffering to any animal makes me so angry

I can't ever understand how someone could let these kind of things happen! I'm so glad for all the dogs that found a new home the transformations are crazy!
