Axl has disgraced himself lol

As most of you know I live in a block of flats on the first floor so that means lots of toilet trips outside for my boy.  Axl is very excitable when he sees any human but most of the time we don't see anyone so its fine.  Last night, however, I managed to bump into 4 people on the way back in... oh what a disaster that was!   

First, a lady I'm familiar with who doesn't  like dogs but has a soft spot for Axl came down the stairs followed by her elderly mother, no problem, I pull Axl to the side to let them down the stairs, Axl is getting a little bit excited but nothing to worry about he sits on command and just stares at them wagging his tail and shuffling from foot to foot.  They move out the way and I proceed up the stairs without checking whether anyone else was coming.... what a mistake.  The lady's elderly father was on his way down and was shuffling along the first landing on his crutches.... Axl couldn't contain his excitement he went mental, he was spinning around on the spot, trying to jump towards him, huffing and choking because he was pulling tight on his collar, I was getting hot and bothered trying to control him, the poor man looked like he was terrified even though Axl was wagging his tail and I don't blame him Axl looked like a proper nutcase!!  At this point he had his lead wrapped around his blooming head where he was spinning around in circles, ducking and diving!   

To make things worse, once i'd manovered around the elderly fella another lady happened to be coming up the stairs behind me so I was trapped and Axl spotted her and it was game over he lost it all together.... his excitement levels are mental.  

I had to quickly open the door leading to our flat and shove him through quickly.  Once we got through and all the humans were out the way he sat down and looked at me as if to say "that was fun wasn't it!"... I was so embarrassed! I looked anything but in control

I will be taking treats out on every toilet run in future  

Oh dear, why did the ladies not say that the old guy was coming down the stairs too ? this could have saved you from so much stress   

Oh dear Axl, treats or a squeeky toy to get his attention to you!

Oh dear, poor axl, I mean it's not his fault he's so lovable and everyone's come to see him but I agree with Kathy it could have been avoided if the ladies had asked you to wait! Xx

He thought all his Christmasses had come at once, so many hoomans, so many kisses to hand out!

Yes thinking about it they should have told me he was coming down the stairs I could have just gone outside for a quick walk around until everyone was safely downstairs and out the door. I'm definitely arming myself with treats from now on though.

Lol!! Bless him, little monkey!! Treats don't even come into Biscuit's eye line when her favourite people are about..

Always amazes me that all these wonderfully over-excited Staffords don't get depressed that so many of these wonderful Humans do not get just as excited about meeting these licking machines that want to say hello.

lol TonyW i'm with you on that! Although I think the happy gene runs too deep in Staffies they just can't help it!
