marley looking for a new home
Hi all
It is with a sad and heavy heart i have to look for a new home for my best mate.
Marley is a tan and white staffie,4 years old in may he has all his jabs and treated for fleas ,worms ect every month,
he has his pet passport as he went to Holland,France ,Belgium and Germany last year .
He travels well in the car on the back seats between my boys with his harness on and fairly well in the boot of my landcruiser.
He loves people and children are his favourite never at any point have i worried about him around my boys (5 &10) when they have a bath he sits in the bathroom and they throw bath bubbles for him and have even covered him in bubbles.
He loves his baths and is bathed monthly.
He plays with a tennis ball around the kitchen and lounge and love to play tug with my boys he is not a chewer and has very little interest in hide chews.
Prefers human food to dog food and hates the rain.
He will sit on your lap and go to sleep which is nice if you can stand the snoring.
Now the reason I need to rehome him, marley was a rescue off preloved and he has always had issues with 99% of other dogs, I posted around christmas about issues with a collie puppy I needed, and was happy to read i had done the introducing the right way.
I live on a small holding and have live stock since the puppy episode he has been getting slowly more aggressive towards the cows and sheep I tried evey way I know to stop it he has even had a muzzle but like some houdini dog he slips them off and shreds them.
we used too walk the fences and check them for holes, marley would chase squirrels and birds but never go far from me ,then he got stuck in a fellow farmers fence trying to get to some sheep, so i got a lunge lead (23 ft nylon lead used with horses) but while i was fixing a fence he was tied to the quad and chewed the lead so he could run off and chase sheep he jumps a closed gate and chased a fellow farmes sheep, the farmer was in the field, marley ignored him and me and i know this was wrong but we both ended up chasing him on quad bikes,we only caught marley when he was shattered by which time he had bitten 2 ewes, i have no doubt he would have killed them and more if left alone.
I got one almighty roasting off the farmer and quite rightly and he now rides around in his 4x4 and on his quad with his shotgun and he will shoot marley.
this means i dare not risk taking marley out of the house, round here every field has sheep or cows in.
The final straw came a couple of weeks ago when he sneaked out and attacked my cows.
I hope someone can offer marley a home he came from a city and think that is the best place for his new home.
i will give his new owner food, water and food bowls, and the lead i had made for him plus all his paperwork and if needed his bed.
I also won't make you come to the middle of no where to collecting him, we have a house near montgomery ,powys just of an A road to make it easier for everybody.
I have put my e mail on the bottom if you would like to contact me direct, this rain is causing havoc for me and i am not in the house much.
Thank you Gareth

Re: marley looking for a new home
Hiya hun, remember talking to you at Xmas time, so sorry for this outcome. Unfortunately this forum doesn't allow for private rehoming, I wouldn't take him to a centre either as they'll put him to sleep for his dog issues alone. I don't know what to suggest really! Are there any other ways of private rehoming? Wish I could help but he's not good with dogs and I've already got a little heller in foster with me at the moment!

Re: marley looking for a new home
ok did'nt know that.
My partner has him on some rehoming sites, but i am frightened he will be used in dog fighting which is why i put him on here.
I don't know if he would have a crack at your dogs i think a lot of it stems from protecting me, he came from a home with an older female collie and is fine with my dads collie who is the same age and male but very submissive.
He stayed at my parents when i went to oktober fest last year for 3 days and my dad said he was totally different after a few hrs but can't say as i have to be there to see him.

Re: marley looking for a new home
Just ensure that you meet with the people for a few hours and see them interact with Marley, maybe even bring him to their home for the meet so that you can see the set up, and don't let him go for free by any means. You could contact a few rescue centres and ask of they have any ideas to help with rehoming, without him having to go through the kennel system.

You could try asking at Hilbrae in Shropshire they take a lot of staffys and they frequently have dogs that need their own space.
