Every time Mia has a run off lead she loves to chase a ball, but within 30 mins of returning home she is limping badly on her back leg. It's always the same leg and overnight after sleeps she is ok again. Been taking her on road walks a lot and she has been fine. Today however we went on the beach and she had a lovely time. Tonight her limp is back and she is looking very sorry for herself.
So I have decided no more ball play when off lead, she isn't going to like it one bit as she loves the ball. But what else can I do? What supplements could I put in her food for muscles and joints?  Sad

Yes perhaps no ball chasing for a bit, I am not sure on the supplements Vinnie only has these but would think there is something else you could give. x

Harry is ball mad as well and just doesn't know when to stop. They
play hard don't they  Laughing

Wouldn't have thought Mia had join problems at her young age though.
Could she just have pulled a muscle that she needs to rest for a while?
Muscles are so easily pulled.

Hope she feels better in the morning.

it may be that she might just be a little weak on one or both of her back legs. my very first staffie i had when i was a kid was built like a tank but had a slight weakness in his back legs. it didn't affect his life we just had to be aware of the distance we were walking him. i think i would still want a vets opinion if it was worrying me as much as it obviously worrying you but it is probably just a pulled muscle.

Yes I do think its muscular. Apart from rest is there anything else I can do or give to make her more comfortable?

if you are convinced it is muscular then let her rest the leg as much as you can. no running and light excersise only for a couple of weeks. instead of three one hour walks per day cut it down to 3 half hour walks or whatever your regime is. i know it's hard because i know how annoying they can be when they don't get their own way.

I've heard a few vets recommend giving fish body oil, and not one ever mentioned it causing vertigo, so i doubt many vets would know a thing about it. Especially seeing as though most recommend cod liver oil, despite it containing very high levels of vit a
