not again!
found nakita foaming at the mouth again in her crate. about a minute after my friend had picked her up for a cuddle. when i put her down she ran into the cupboard but them seemed fine just whined a bit. it wasnt much foam. there was a small amount of poo in her cage but it looked like a very dark green colour! she seems ok now and is asleep.
vet did blood tests and said she was fine. i have noticed a small amount of rust on her cage, could she have had a chew of that do u think? been over 2 weeks since her 1st eposide of this and this time she was no where near as bad. xx

Re: not again!
I cant really say anything about the foaming, but I personally would be a little concerned about the green poo. I would be tempted to take a poo sample to the vets and see what they say.
As for the rust. I don't think its very harmful. Its only Iron Oxide. I would have it cleaned up and painted over with some enamel paint, just to be safe.

Re: not again!
I remember reading somewhere, a long time ago, that rust could turn poo green! After all it's iron oxide, and if you take iron tablets your own poo turns green!
What are you feeding at the moment? Is there any colouring added?
Has the vet sugested anything?

Re: not again!
Oh dear, this turning out to be one of those topics.........
If you look carefully at your poo (again, ) when you're taking iron tablets, you'll see that it isn't black, but very dark green!

Re: not again!
lol im feeding her bakers puppy but am going to change it. im thinkin of putting her back on lactol for a while (i stopped 3 days ago as she seemed ok) to help with protein. she is back to normal now, if she was really ill she would be bad all the time but she isnt.

PLEASE take her off the Bakers! It's full of additives (colours/flavourings) which are no good at all for your dog & are there just to make it look nicer for you! She could be reacting to one of the colours in the food.

Re: not again!
i am after your advice! im going to a pet shop tomorrow which stocks loads of puppy food and they know what they are talking about. should i get one with high protein (shes going back on lactol to help) or normal amounts? dont wanna give her too much. got told she can have the occasional egg to help but is she too young?
i really wish my boyfriend gave me notice to buying me a pup so i could read up on them :/

Re: not again!
Poo definatly black when on iron tablets although not really had a close look at multiple ones just from when I remember when training. Green poo is the sign of a upset tummy so I think with the green poo and foaming your baby has a upset tummy when the tempriture rises the body reacts sometimes in fear I bet your girl was a bit disorientated and freaked out a bit I would closely moniter her see how she goes

take it from a trained metaloligist lol iron will turn your stools black and lead will turn stools green
but in this case sounds more like a upset tummy

Re: not again!
is the dog tested clear l2-hga? doubt very much the vet would have tested for that . foaming out the mouth and running into the cupboard would worry me personally , maybe something neurological ,? or maybe i just worry too much

Autarky dog food is quite good in my experience and not bad on the pocket.
If you want to soften it with warm water do so 15-20 min in advance.

Re: not again!
well off the poo topic lol reading up on worms as nakita was wormed 2 weeks ago (after last seizure) and i didnt know if worms are not treated they can cause convulsions (which describe what she had as it wasnt really a seizure) and foaming at the mouth. i only checked as her belly went huge again after her food. so bought some beaphar worming cream which will do quite a few doses, some james wellbeing lamb and rice puppy kibble (binned the bakers) and some more lactol to help boost her up and hopefully she should be fine
