Squirrels Empty Squirrels

Post by -Ian- Fri Feb 07 2014, 14:28

I may have mentioned earlier that Flo can be, well, kinda special needs sometimes but here's a thing. She loves going over the huge park we have nearby and chasing her sticky stick but more than that she loves Squirrel alley.

Squirrel alley consists of two abandonded concrete roads through an avanue of trees. Perfect squirrel territory !
She darts this way and that way using her nose to find out where they have been and will often stand perfecly still just looking for them. She can't hear them being totally deaf (or so she makes out).

Once spotted thats it, watch out squirrel. Well that was untill recently. Being a cunning girl, she managed to sneak up on one, I was ready to dive into the trees to stop her eating the thing but she had no intention of doing that at all.

She was like a cat and just wanted to play with it !!

My brother in law says she need to be more errr well "dog" lol  thinking

Squirrels Empty Re: Squirrels

We had squirrels in the woods at my last house and one of my staffs would
sit at the bottom of a tree all day waiting for a squirrel to come back down, not realising that it had jumped from tree to tree branch  Laughing   The squirrels
also used to torment my dogs by looking down from a branch and chattering at them.
Would just warn you though, that squirrels can be very nasty little things
and have a very vicious bite ,so a dog (even a staffie) needs to kill it quickly if it catches one (which won't be often) as a bite can be very nasty and germ ridden. They might look cute and are no match strength wise but  those teeth are used to crack nut shells  Smile

Snoop never paid any attention to them he would completely ignore them. Miss Tallulah on the other hands seems to chase everything that catches her attentions. TBH its not the dog they need to watch for its are cat and he does chase to kill

Squirrels must be caught at all costs according to my dogs lol. they will both try and climb a tree after them or will lean up it and use some kind of zen like mind trick to force the squirrel to fall out the tree (hasnt worked yet)
