A question about vaccinations
Heres a vet question for you guys.... When we got Marquez, he's vaccination book wasn't legit - it had the vial labels in there but what he was vaccinated against wasn't checked off nor was there the vets signature or stamp so the vet we use said that it wasn't valid so yesterday she tested him for Distemper and Parvo as she needed to do that before getting his microchip. They were both negative.
She recommended that he get revaccinated as he would need to be for when we apply for his pet passport and start paper work for when we move to europe, so we did. What we think is that this would've been his first yearly booster that he would've needed anyway but he was just getting it earlier. I'm not a fan of vaccines for humans or animals but in this case it can't be avoided as he wouldn't be able to travel with us when we move.
My question is, do we really need to wait 10 days before we take him out for walks again or to play with other dogs (our friends rotty pup has just had his last shots last week)? The vet said we shouldn't. I have no doubt that he was vaccinated by his breeder and last owner who ran a K9 rottweiler security kennel and where he's been living his whole life as we well as growing up amongst hundreds of other dogs that live at the kennel. The reason why we think they gave us a dodgy vaccination book is that they lost it and didn't want to admit it. We've been walking him for the last 2 weeks 2-3 times a day without any problem. Is it better to wait like the vet says because maybe the latest vaccine makes him more susceptible of picking up a disease or do you think we still take him out for his walks as normal? 10 days is going to be a VERY LONG wait for Marquez and us who enjoy the walks as much as he does.
Here are the pics of what he apparently got but not signed and stamped.
His shots from yesterday and next due shot for Pneumodog

Re: A question about vaccinations
Thanks guys, I didn't think we would really have to keep him in but wanted to double check. Could really tell the difference tonight - he's been running around the house more than usual and jumping around like a ninja!!! Just got word back from a girlfriend who works at a vet clinic and who breeds GDS and she said the same thing as you guys. Will start him back on his walks tomorrow morning

Re: A question about vaccinations
Do you have any idea who the vet was that was supposed to have done original vaccinations ? If you do could you contact them to find out if the vaccination book is legit ?

I will get our office girl to call the owner and find out what happened there but I won't hold my breath that we'll get a straightforward answer. One thing about asians in Thailand and Indonesia (I'm sure other countries) is that they don't like admitting fault, especially to a foreigner like us. No body ever sees anything too! - it's all about saving face here

Re: A question about vaccinations
tbh if you've got the labels with the batch numbers etc stuck into Marquez's book then I would think that these would be very difficult to falsify. Lack of stamps and signatures might well be down to sheer laziness.

This could also be the case and considering where we live, it would be easy for the kennel owner (he owns one of the largest K9 security training facility so probably vaccinates all the dogs because the have over 200 of them) to get these vaccines and do the vaccinations without a vet but for us, those stamps and signatures are extremely important as we are all moving to Europe later this year and he will need his documents to be 100% correct. Our vet said that his book that we got with him wouldn't be valid
