New to the forum
Hi all, just found this site and have spent a good while looking around. There is loads of useful stuff here that I am sure will come in handy!
A little about me first, way back when I was a mere lad my Mum looked after a Staff whilst the owner was in hospital. The owner rescued staffs back then. Anyways the long and short is that when we returned our little furry lodger, the other 2 staffs wouldn't let her back in the house. From that day on we became the owners of a pure bred Staff. She had a show name but we never did show or bread with her.
So, as you can appreciate, I fell in love with her and was a confirmed staffs fan from then on. Sadly her life came to an end when she was an elderly girl but she had a life full of fun and love and even came on dates with my future wife!
Now several years have passed, and then some more, and a couple of kids and we found ourselves with Fluer... Or Flo.. Or just plain Dawg.. More about that in a min lol
One bank holiday weekend nearly 2 years back my eldest son suggested me the wife and he go to Battersea to look around. Now me being practical says.. And I quote " we are only looking, no dogs will follow us home". Well we saw many lovely dogs, mainly Staffs, but left empty handed.
So, the next bank holiday weekend arrives and this time my youngest son says.. "You took my brother, so now I want to see the dogs at Battersea". Ok says me but the "we are only looking" quote came out again. I guess you know what's coming...
We saw Fleur.. Sprightly looking mischievous young lady looking up at us from doggy jail. Read her profile, had a long hard think and asked to meet her.
After out interview etc, we got to meet her with the resident vet. He went on to tell us that she was healthy but deaf as it said on her profile. I asked how/why and the vet thought that she had suffered reoccurring ear infections and had the canals removed. Let me assure you, she can hear some things lol. She was gifted to Battersea and had been well looked after previously.
After a walk and a further chat with my youngest and wife, we became her new parents. No bed, no food. Omg bank holiday! Anyway we sourced all the bits we needed for our first night home. She leapt in the car and a half hour later were home. Opened the door and she ran in to meet my eldest son, she was so happy that she had a little wee lol. Luckily my eldest son didn't but he is definately her fave.
Now we are nearly 2 years in, one major op on a painfull knee and a stay in doggy hospital after eating a bar of choc, here we are joining your group.
Although she is deaf, if you open a pack of treats she is right there. If you yell in the park for her to come back, she will, mostly. Much to my youngest son's embarresment I find that shouting Dawg works best at getting her back, we also have a high vis jacket so that we can spot her in between the trees as she loves stalking squirrels !
Ok enough from me for now, but I have loads of tales about life with a deaf Staff and will share at a later date.
Thanks for reading, till next time.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me
Thank you for a wonderful introduction, the line "We are only looking" sounds very familiar, this is exactly what we said when we first met Rocky in the rescue centre.

Re: New to the forum
Thanks for the welcome.. Having just returned from our latest squirrel hunt, I am currently pinned to the sofa by Flo having a snuggle.. Just in time for the Rugby to start. I will endeavour to share some funny stories as time goes by (my little minx is always up to something).
I hope you enjoy the read.

Re: New to the forum
Oh rats... First attempt at a pic post didn't happen... This is hat happens when you use a new tablet and have a Staffy trying to nose in!!
Well the thought of a diary is interesting.. Not sure it would really be a diary, more of a list of escapades that me and Flo have experienced.
Perhaps I could call it the adventures of Flo or something. I'm sure it would make people laugh as she makes me laugh every day, without fail lol.
Well here goes, my first attempt at a pic of Flo as requested.

Re: New to the forum
Thanks for all the kind words about Flo. The pic shows her in her fave place... The sofa !!! I swear I said no dogs on my sofa long long ago lol
Oh wait a min.... She's deaf so obviously didn't hear
I will post some of her many adventures for those that want to hear about them, including the one about getting mugged for her stick.. I laughed so much that day.
I guess here isn't the right place so will aim for the diary section.
Till later
