Roman needs a new home :(
Hey guys, Sorry I've not been on much but been so busy.
As I said last time I was on, our landlady is evicting us, we only have 5 weeks left here and we are no closer to finding anywhere and my baby is being induced in 7 weeks. We have had to turn down or not view places because they wasn't pet friendly but that looks set to change When we got Roman we were all settled here and planning to stay long term, it just shows you never know whats round the corner.
Also, Roman has started really playing up (hes 5 months now) and started toileting indoors and not listening to a word I say. It's become too much for me to handle. I have a high risk pregnancy and I cannot walk or bend down to clean up his pee anymore. OH is still doing lots of walks but its not helping.
Roman has started biting as well, I went to push him away from jumping on the sofa and he will go for me and not in a playful way.

Re: Roman needs a new home :(
So sorry to hear this, I expect Roman will be picking up on all in tension and worry in the house and a stressful environment is not good for any of us and our fur babies let alone being in the situation you find yourself where at this stage your health and wellbeing have to be priority
Please if you have to let Roman go, get in touch with local staffy rescues

Re: Roman needs a new home :(
Aw how very sad. At 5 months Roman is becoming a teenager and testing the boundaries anyway as well as picking up on tension. I do hope you find a favourable solution.

What your experiencing with roman is perfectly normal, and I understand your pregnancy is high risk and stress doesn't help, I personally no matter what the situation couldn't rehome darcy and I'm not having a go Hun please try to find a solution, roman will be stressed and anxious too

If there was another way round it then we would do it. But we are being evicted because the landlady doesnt want to do repairs. We have just under 5 weeks to leave and my baby is more important to me. We have turned down so many lovely places all because they are not pet friendly.
My 2 cats have already gone to a rescue, and I'm afraid to say Roman is next. I am going to see if OH's mum can have him before I start calling local rescues. I won't be selling him on gumtree or giving him away thats for sure!!

Please understand that I empathise with you totally but also that I'm allowed a personal opinion, as will many members, try to find a bull breed specific rescue with a no kill policy. Good luck with your future.

I would never give me dog up for anything they would stay with friend or family till i have an place where we can be together again! it sound like you just taking the easy option like most people do these days that why there so many staffy in rescues. please please if you decide to get rid please dont put another dog thought this again if you can not fully commit to an pet .

Jump down my throat why don't you. We COULD fully commit to having a dog and waited a long time to do so. It is not our fault our landlady is a *. It is NOT the easy option for us but what else can we do?? If his mum can't have the dog then we have no other option as no one else we know can take him... trust me we have asked!!!

Re: Roman needs a new home :(
Have you tried contacting any housing associations ? You would have a high priority housing need so should be housed very quickly. Our housing association is Places for People and they do allow pets, please try the contact details for them below:

Re: Roman needs a new home :(
Oh Kate I do feel for you.
Ref Roman's behaviour - he's a puppy and they will play bite, and it's very likely he's picking up on the understandable stress in your home, so please don't worry that he's turning vicious or anything.
If your OH's mum can give him a temporary home whilst you sort out your housing situation and give birth to this baby in as calm a situation as possible, that would be an absolute godsend.
I wish you all the luck in the world

Re: Roman needs a new home :(
I spoke in depth with OHs mum tonight and she can't take him She agrees though that it is best he was rehomed.
I won't let him go to just anyone though. We have an amazing local dog rescue who I may donate him too if I cannot find a suitable home ASAP. I will also contact the breeder (I have her on Facebook) and give her the chance to take him back if she wants to.
Its not ideal but there is no other way forward.

Good luck with that, I'm sure it will all work out in the end, you come across as a very responsible dog owner, many would have dumped him outside the r.s.p.c.a especially as you are under such time constraints, you have to do what is best for yourself and your imminent arrival, there is also the option of fostering, than maybe you could have him back when you are more settled, just a thought, good luck xx

Thank you It has not been an easy decision to make and not one we took lightly. When we got him we had good incomes and a stable home, its amazing how quickly things change that you cannot control. But with only 7 weeks left until baby arrives and only 5 weeks left before we have to leave our house, we cannot be picky on property anymore. We decided that we wouldnt turn down a good place to live with baby even if it meant no pets.
The stress has had me in tears every single day since we got the notice to leave here and it really isn;t fair on Roman. He is a lovely dog he just needs to be in the right hands and those hands are not mine
Rest assured he will NOT be going on Gumtree and all potential buyers will be vetted and I will do a home visit. x

If the breeder you had Roman from is a good one then they will usually take them back no problems. Good luck xxx

Any reputable breeder would take the puppy back I'm sure if you couldn't cope. I'm sure they would have a waiting list of possible new owners so someone may get a chance of being an owner this way.

I know its crazy!!! Apparently you are not technically homeless until its gone through the courts. We could stay here whilst she dragged it through the courts but that would end up costing us money as well and be so stressful especially with the baby coming.
The homeless prevention officer has approved us on the rent deposit scheme so they will loan us £1300 to private rent. Its still gonna cost us about £500 on top of that to move (estate agents fees).
