Teething

I swear banes is teething, he will only chew soft or smooth items at the moment, and I need to put a little warm water in with his food to soften it.
Is this normal for some pups. My last sbt chewed stones ( & walls & stairs ) while her big teeth were coming through. If you think it is his teeth is there anything I can give that will help him? (Ice or something)

I've not had a pup, but I think I've seen people say to wet a towel and freeze it for them to chew on x

I've heard about the wet teatowel thing! I guess it will soothe/numb the pain a little without being too tough for them.
Bane is going through it too...he went right off his food for a couple of days until we started adding a bit of water. He also goes through stages of wanting hard and soft things to chew. He particularly likes his nylabone when they are hurting
Keep an eye out for teeth! We haven't been lucky enough to find any of Bane's yet!

Frozen carrots or ice cubes are good for teething.

tbh I've never had any of the pups I've had experience distress when shedding their baby teeth. Like all babies, they'll chew on anything and everything that they can, but unlike our human babies our doggie babies come to us at typically 8 - 12 weeks old with their baby teeth already in place.

Over the next couple of months or so, the roots of these baby teeth are absorbed by the body, and are pushed out by the emerging adult teeth. There is no cutting of gums to pain the dog, and the baby teeth are generally swallowed. You may be lucky enough to find the remains of a baby tooth (just the top bit, no root) on your floor to preserve for sentimentality and posterity.

Maybe I and my dogs have just been lucky, but in my own experience shedding baby teeth and growing adult teeth has been a natural and pain-free process.
