New Scottish Staffy Rescue Centre
Hi just wanted to make everyone aware of a new staffy rescue that has recently been set up in Scotland - www.saveastaffyrescue.co.uk
Aims of the charity
* To give (within the Charities' powers and resources) shelter and care to Staffordshire Bull Terriers
* To actively seek to re-home dogs who come into our care
* To promote responsible ownership of domestic dogs
* To encourage kindness and humanity in their treatment
* To encourage neutering of all dogs and to assist financially,
through our half price neutering scheme, those who are unable to
fully meet the cost.
* To encourage the microchipping, regular vaccination, worming
and neutering of pets.
* To be available when required to give advice and help concerning
Staffordshire Bull Terriers in Scotland.
* Educate the public about this breed
* Lobby the Scottish Parliament to control the indiscriminate breeding of dogs, in particular Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
I came across this during my search for the 'perfect pup' lol - they are still at the setting up stages but have taken my details and will be in touch to organise a home assessment very soon.
The organisers used to volunteer for another staff rehoming centre but broke away and have now formed their own. I am doing a sponsored walk next month and have decided to make them the charity I will do it for...

Sounds good.
What a shame that there is such a need for it though!
Why did they split away?

I'm so pleased your looking into different avenues. Sounds like a great place. Couldn't find anything when I looked them up though. There are far too many dogs out there without homes x

Re: New Scottish Staffy Rescue Centre
The guy didnt go into it in too much detail but apparently him and his wife have been staffy owners all of their lives and they didnt agree with the re-homing process, the person that ran the rescue has never had a staff but was willing to send 2 adult male staffs to live with a family who'd never owned staffs before and he felt that it could turn out to be a recipe for disaster. He said this was one of just a few stories of dogs being homed unsuitably and just couldnt be a part of it anymore. He has registered it as a proper charity and sounds like a real animal lover.
And to top it off - I should be getting a home check soon for when a suitable dog comes available!! Woo Hoo x

Re: New Scottish Staffy Rescue Centre
Just looked on their website. Seems like they're trying to do everything right.
Just one little nit-pick - Jock of the Bushveldt wasn't a full staff! He was a Bulldog x Manchester Terrier! Staffies weren't a seperate breed then.

Re: New Scottish Staffy Rescue Centre
They just took my details today and because I specified that I'd prefer a dog 6 months or under he said it may take slightly longer but they'll get in touch about the home check very soon then it'll just be a waiting game. I really cant wait but so glad I've decided to do it this way - think I'll love the dog even more!
