It comes from the brindle ones kaisers mum and dad was both brindle but you couldnt just mate 2 brindles and expect a black and tan as both parents have to carry the gene and even if you mated 2 black and tans it wouldnt mean you would get black and tan pups it is complicated but thats what i have read somewhere a the black and tan colour is a throw back from when the staffy was first bread it is from the terrier in them i love them too it is nice to be different there isnt many about

Hello, firstly can I say I love the colour but its very undesirable for a stafford, breeders, show people hate it and the standard frowns upon it
The reason the colour is there is from the manchester terriers dominant colour gene so your 2 have that dominant gene now that doesnt mean they look like a terrier its just the colour. It doesnt mean that breeding 2 together will produce them either but having that colour gene will always be there and when the gene is present will at some point produce black and tan and erradicate all other colours.
