Howdy all
And a Happy christmas to you all, sorry we not been around for a few weeks
And guess what Pixee had to do yesterday , I took her to the park for a change (Wish I hadnt) she saw a black bird, those big ones, and went to chase it, unbeknown to her, there was a brook she tried to jump it clear, only her two back legs landed in the water , now I had my dog on the wrong side too! I noticed she was taking her time, so I walked along the brook looking for a shallow part to call her over, found one, called her, she seem fine then held her back leg up, I was like oh no had a look at it, oh gosh the blood pouring out! (Just above her paw, as such on her ankle) I could see a small hole, took her straight to the vets. Got in straight away, and Pixee was so stressed out, we couldnt get her on the table, she was pawing the door to get out . I managed to calm her down, and vet and nurse managed to have a look at her back paw and there was all of us on the floor ! They had to shave some fur off to have a good look, Pixee wasnt happy bout that. Was worse than they thought, said she should have a stitch really, but as she was too stressed out, they would try a bandage instead. Nice blue one, that only stayed on for 4 hours, Pixee never chewed it, she was a good girl, it slipped off!!!
I wasnt taking her back to the vets as she is such a stress head, so kept an eye on it. Was still bleeding slightly, but this morning I am happy to say the wound is closed, just abit weeping, which we have some Antibiotics for in case of infection. Took her out on lead for a walk for 10mins, and the wound is still closed. In all it cost £92.00! and 25.00 was for the damn bandage! At least she is fine and the wound still closed. So fingers crossed

Re: Howdy all
Do you have any VetWrap you could put on the wound until it is completely healed ?
http://www.animeddirect.co.uk/vetrap-blue-5cm.html
It is quite easy to apply and will help to keep the wound clean, it's a stretchy bandage with lycra and kind of sticks to itself

This is what they put on Pixees paw and ankle part, and yet it slipped off. No I dont have any, but good ideal to order some, thanks for the link Kathy. I know I would have done a better job putting that bandage on and it would stay on. So far, the wound is looking ok. Pixee is not licking it, so thats a good sign too. Plus walks are kept short and only on lead on footpaths. Shes had another 10min one not long ago.
