Sick
Hi all.
Kiara was sick on Saturday after her walk. Seemed to throw up some cat poo which she had eaten on the walk. She was then sick on the Saturday evening after her walk it as she hadn't eaten yet it was mainly stomach lining. Since Saturday she has been fine however she has just been sick tonight 5 minutes after eating. She was at the vets last Friday for a booster and for her kennel cough vaccine. Whilst at the vets we mentioned to the vet how fast she wolfs her food down and the vet suggested giving her her food in a kongh. Since then we have filled her kongh until there is only 1 quarter of her food left and then given her that in her bowl.
Does anyone think it could be giving her the food in the kongh and making her work for the food that could be the issue or something else?
Cheers

Re: Sick
Could the new food be causing her problems?
Or maybe she's had a touch of a bad tummy, and needs a slow introduction back to her food? If that's the case, I'd split her meals into 3 or even 4 portions spread evenly through the day so that you don't overload her stomach. In fact I'd always feed at least twice a day with a dog that bolts its food.
Maybe go back to the original food for a few days, split into smaller portions and see if that settles her?

Re: Sick
She could be licking the air a lot trying to get the food from the kong then the food shes getting after that is sitting on top of the air and coming up when she burps.
I would use one of these instead: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jumbo-Slow-Feed-Dog-Food-Bowl-Anti-skid-/171185844889?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&hash=item27db78b299
Kongs are treats, not for meals tbh.

Re: Sick
Yeah I starting thinking tonight after she was sick that maybe she is taking in too much air when eating from the kongh. We only feed once per day due to our schedule. She gets walked when we get up and there isn't enough time between coming back from the walk and leaving for work to feed her. Maybe we should try getting up earlier so that we can feed her in the morning as well as the evening.

Re: Sick
I only sugested feeding more than once a day to get her over whatever's causing the sickness. Sometimes the stomach just needs a rest, and overloading it with one large meal can delay recovery.
How about splitting the food into two meals in the evening, about an hour or so apart?

Re: Sick
We try to keep her away from it as much as we can but if there is any around she always makes a beeline for it.
