Hey there everyone
Hey there everyone.
I'm Pete from Stoke and id also like to introduce our new Staffy Prince.
Been noseying around for some forums and I came across this one that looked good. So I thought I would introduce myself and contribute what I can.
Ok, about Prince.
He's 6 years old and his KC name is Spot The Prince. Decedent of Trooper The Star and Jon's Underground Queen...
We got him from a girl 4 days ago who couldn't really handle him anymore because of other commitments. So were now giving him a loving home.
Apparently he is a big staffie, but hes not fat or anything. Although it has been suggested to slim him down just a tiny bit. I have not measured him or weighed him yet, but will be doing that soon so I can keep tabs on him.
I do have quite a few questions that could do with answering, but I'll do a search for them first before I ask.
Anyway, here are a few pics of Prince.
Enjoy

Re: Hey there everyone
Hi Prince, Pete & Mummy,
Pete, Prince doesn't look overweight, he's pretty solid and muscly. We struggle with our 18 month old Izzy, as I always feel she is a little on the heavy side, but her dad was a very big boy and she is a solid girl. When I think she is looking a little rounder than normal, I suggest to my hubby that he feeds her a little less and we exercise her a little more. My older girl Kita has always been slight and very, very lean but so full of muscle (so was I once, ha ha), so I tend to think Izzy is a bit heavy too. When we walk them she gets the nickname "J-Lo" as she walks in front and plods along while Kita seems to tip toe along next to me. Lee

Re: Hey there everyone
Hiya and welcome!! He looks absolutley gorgeous and u seriously wont regret taking him on, once uve had a staff ull never go back lol! Truthfully he does look over weight to me but thats nothing a good quaility kibble and lots of exercise wont fix - i speak from experience as one of my boys has been on a "diet" for a few months now and has gone from 21.5kg to 19.9kg so im pleased. It would be interesting to see how much he does weigh though then u can keep a record of what he loses! x

Re: Hey there everyone
Hey guys. Thanks for the very warm welcome
At the moment, I'm feeding Prince what he was on previously and will be getting him some proper food soon. We give him 1/2 tin of meat in jelly and 1/2 tins worth of dry food. Once in the morning and once at tea time. We have been taking him out at least twice a day for some good exercise. Yesterday we were out for a good 3 hours, but that was around town and stuff. Let him off the lead for the first time as well yesterday in the field. He had a good run around with the ball, which lasted all of 5 minutes before it popped and that includes walking to the field with it. So we are exercising him quite a bit.
Oh, I was thinking of getting him a harness so he can pull me around on my roller blades. Would anyone recommend this or will it be too much for him?
I'll probably get him weighed tomorrow. There is a pet shop/warehouse down the road that has a set of scales. So I think I'll be paying them a visit. I'll also measure him up as well. Speaking of measuring, What do I measure? Floor to...?
I think I'll agree with you blaze. I wasn't too sure about getting a staffy at first, but my better half said to me that shes got one lined up and shes picking him up later. When he came to his new home, that was it. I fell in love with him. I'm still gonna get an Alsatian or a Husky one day though. But definitely sticking with Staffies as well
I have some questions on food, toys and treats, but I'll post them in the relevant areas.
