Groomers
Bruno has got his first 'puppy MOT' today with the groomer. It's a bath, nails and ears and will be £18.
The lady I found seems nice and I liked her more than others because she uses all natural products, shampoos etc which I thought would be kinder to Bru's skin.
Do your dogs go to the groomer and do you think that's a reasonable price?
I hope he behaves himself!

He's really going for his nails. I have been doing them myself but I caught his quick once and now he freaks out if I go near them hopefully he will let someone else do it!

Re: Groomers
I've never really seen the need for a groomer, but the price seems quite reasonable. Do you stay with him or do you have to leave him there?

Re: Groomers
I've just left him there. It's only an hour but it can't go fast enough! I feel like I've lost my left arm. The woman was really nice though and picked him up for a cuddle which he was loving when I left so I'm sure he'll be fine he's such a ladies man!
He really needs his nails doing and freaks out when I try to do it so we thought we'd try someone else doing it to see if he's happier with that.
He'll come back smelling lovely and sweet and will get a big cuddle from mummy!

Re: Groomers
No, you see that's what I couldn't do!
Apart from the fact that Dempsey would have to be muzzled, and even then would be a handful, I'd be constantly worrying about what he was doing/going through!

Re: Groomers
We only ever get Rockys nails done by the local groomers while we wait for him there. It only takes the lady a couple of minutes to it.

Re: Groomers
Sounds like a fair price to be honest! A lot of people get their dogs clipped at the kennels as they do it a lot cheaper than a groomers would and you're also allowed to stay there while they do it! If he does t need a bath or his ears doing then you should call around a few kennels close by - might be handy for when you need to leave him also!

Re: Groomers
Wow £18? My local groomers quoted me £30 just to give Bailey a bath, needless to say he got a shower in our bath instead.

Re: Groomers
Our local pet store has a do-it-yourself bath for dogs. For £5 you get the shampoo (and warm water, of course!), towels and a dryer. Quite reasonable.

That is good Caryll, and you don't have all the cleaning up like at home!!
How did it go Rosie?

Re: Groomers
It went really well. Bruno was well behaved and enjoyed his bath, but not having his nails done. He wouldn't let her get near his front nails with the clippers so she used the grinder instead which he tolerated. He's booked in again to have his nails done in 6 weeks to get him used to it and teach him its really not scary! Then he'll go every six weeks and have a bath on alternate visits. The lady was lovely too so I'm very happy and its a good price.
I've just received an email from one of the other salons I made enquiries to and she quoted me £30-35 just for a bath and nails...! Jog on love!

Re: Groomers
Aww glad Bruno was ok never had to use groomers with Vin, his nails stay pretty short that's cause I walk his feet off!
Its about £30-40 around here so that's a good price. We also have a couple of mobile ones too

Re: Groomers
Blimey well done Bruno hopefully in time he'll get used to it! Maybe you could continue the training at home? Holding the clippers near his feet and treating him ect? Glad it went well
