could you eat your pet to survive?
Sorry if it's been posted i didn't see it but heres the link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2483950/Hiker-forced-eat-dog-stranded-Canadian-wilderness-3-months.html
After 3 days he killed his dog who saved him by chasing away a bear and ate him 3 DAYS! There is no way i could eat my dogs, and i'll eat most things, but if there was bears living there, there must have been food, but he could have survived for a LOT longer without food. Disgusting.

Re: could you eat your pet to survive?
Absolutely NOT. The thought appals me, it would be like eating your own child. Disgusting, disgusting, especially after the poor dog saved his life. Too much to hope that he got eaten by a bear that his dog was no longer around to chase away, I suppose.
I'm quite a hard-headed person, being brought up amongst farm animals, horses, etc, but some things are beyond the pale and this is one of them. I swear I'd die of starvation first.

Thing is he managed to survive for 3 months afterwards which proves it was pointless. I would use the dogs as a tool to find food after all they are far superior at it than we are. It looks like all the "experts" are trying to sugar coat what he did as a necessity which it wasnt. Cold horrid man with no survival instinct who panicked. Horried excuse of a human...hope it haunts him for the rest of his life.

Re: could you eat your pet to survive?
That's disgusting! Three days and he eats the dog that saved his life?! Three days is fricking nothing, for God's sake! I've gone longer than that without food and I didn't complain, and yet this pig thinks it's okay to eat the dog who put his life on the line for his owner? That's just sickening. Shows how much he thought of man's best friend. Tell that story to some of the homeless people in the world who devote their lives to their sole companions - their dogs.
