Chestnuts Empty Chestnuts

Post by Guest Sat Nov 02 2013, 13:31

I cant believe what an abundance of chestnut there are this year!
It grieves me as no one is having them and they are all going to waste, I love them with a bit of salt, but they make my chest tight. Apart from chestnut stuffing is there anything else you could do with them? Big Grin

I love them just roasted, you can also pop them under the grill for a few minutes too. Some recipe ideas in the link below Inez:

Always the way mate...Im so slow/laid back ive been described as going backwards by some. Im one of those people that need to experience a mistake before they learn from it and exploding chestnuts and the resulting cleanup operation certainly taught me a lesson...

There's a huge chestnut tree in my mums garden, it's so huge and old it has a tree preservation order on it. It gives lots of chestnuts and dad used to love collecting them and grilling them. Smile
He used to sit with them in a bowl and 'unwrap' them for my mum when they were too hot. Love Struck Fond memories!
