Raw

Darcy has had her 1st raw day today still feel a little unsure but fingers crossed.

What has she had?

Went out today to a local supplier and spent twenty quid, we got about 10/15 chicken breasts, 20 wings, 10 thighs & 8 carcasses, chicken mince.

She's had thigh & breast meat for breakfast
1/2 carcass & mince for tea does that sound right saz?

Sounds OK to me, I've just fed minced chicken carcass for the first week, then same this week and introduced lamb tripe too. Next week I;m going to try some wings and legs.

Cool, I thought about doing the mince but just thought I keep putting it of because I'm scared, so just jump, Darcy prefers the bones, strange dog

Yeah good idea, I hadn't been that successful with bones so I'm hoping this has given Daisy a taste for the raw and she'll be better now

I don't actually like the all-in-one mince. Much prefer the bones with the meat on - I love watching them pull the meat off & then crunch up the bone. Fantastic for their teeth!

Yeah, I need daisy to do better with the bones for her teeth

Day 2 gone great, bit gassy though

Like Caryll, I also love watching them rip the meat off the bones and crunching away. In fact, I just love watching them tuck in in general and enjoy their meal!

Going to introduce some turkey necks, wings and mince

She's just had Turkey mince, gone in 60 seconds

What a good girl Darcy. We only get turkey at Christmas time here

They will def be getting wings/legs at Xmas time if I can get hold of any but have never seen turkey mince  

Sounds like Darcy is loving her new diet, what a lovely pup  

Shame about the mince, maybe you could buy extra and freeze it for a later date

Isn't it just the best fun to watch and see how much they enjoy it! Have you tried chicken feet yet?

They can be fun to watch. Roxy always takes the longer end and walks around with chicken toes waggling out of her mouth like she's making it wave its last goodbyes   

I occasionally give them a sheep's head each as a gorge meal. So far every time he's had one, Vinny sees it, and starts kind of whimpering/squeeling with excitement then runs all around the house like he's doing a happy dance. And heaven help me if it hasn't fully defrosted, he will sit next to it shaking before he tucks in   

Do you get cows' heels? Another favourite in this house is lamb's tails and pork trotters. And they love olive oil and coconut oil too as toppings.

Darcy is moving into her 4th week :-) and she's loving it, so far she's had minced chicken, turkey, lamb & tripe, chicken carcasses, wings & thighs, and turkey necks, am I imagining it but she seems very calm, she's doing her usual play and walks and flirt pole but she was still bouncy, now in between eating & walking she's just sleeping I'm not complaining just different, is it because she's not getting any additives? She was on Simpsons salmon and potato prior to going raw

Sounds good Hayley! Yes, the lack of additives plays a big role in behaviour. They still have their energy but they're not bouncing of the walls  

Thought I was going daft she's always been an angel but now she's saintly

All good, we are trying a fozen turkey neck tonight as she seemed to eat the bones better frozen?!!

Then off to the raw food shop tomorrow to get something new to introduce

She's doing really we saz, looking great too, so far were are doing chicken,caracas's neck, back, mince, breast, turkey necks, mince, lamb mince, green tripe pork mince we are trying today

Still going really well Saz she's had lamb mince and turkey neck for tea nom nom I've just ordered more assorted mince packs chicken & turkey necks and beef spleen chunks.
