Mouthing / pulling a trousers, shoes etc?
Hi all, any tips/ advice on how to best deal with mouthing, nico is still doing it, he's also pulling at trousers, shoelaces, and on occasion gnawing on soft furnishings, not damaged anything or anyone but I want to nip this behaviour in the bud.

You could replace what he's biting for something interesting that he's allowed, a favourite toy when he's nipping your finger a firm no it a yelp will get his attention, time, patience & petsistance and he'll get there

As Hayley says a firm no or a yelp then you must ignore him, the more you interact with him the more he thinks it a game! It will be hard at first but he'll get the message.

Ignore him as said if you interact with it he will think its a game. A firm no and remove the object (not your trousers obviously!).
You could then replace with a treat when you remove it. They do go through these stages but playing some games as mental stimulation helps as they do get bored. Good luck

I think all the above advice is spot on. What you also need to remember is that rescue dogs can take a while to 'settle in' to their new homes. At the moment he's still getting used to you, your home, your routines & your training.
Be consistent and patient (hard, I know, with a great lump of a stafford jumping all over you!) and he will respond.

Yeah we will stick with the no! And ignoring, it's when we are ignoring him playing up already that he is pulling on clothes though, suppose he's going through a ' well what else can I do to get your attention' thing. Other than that and this is only when he gets himself very overexcited, he's coming on well.

If he doesn't stop with the ignoring, then just put him out of the room for a minute or two.
