jwb
hi everyone i have decided to introduce wispa to james well belloved fish and rice kibble and have been mixing it in with his royal canin and he seems to like it. but the problem is wispa he eats his kibble only if i've mixed it with food such as fish like mackerel/sardines, chicken or egg. I saw that jwb also do wet food pouches, im not a fan of wet food as not many have very good ingredients(i read a review on pedigree chum yesterday as why it isnt good for your dog with each ingredient broken down and could not comprehend how pedigree get away with it!!)but the ingredients in jwb seemed okay. i was thinking to use some to top or mix in his kibble.
just wanted to know if anyone has tried them at all?
i know royal canin is supposed to be a good brand out there but im not keen on the wheat content? does anyone else use royal? i notice there are a few wainwrights and jwbs here...
wispa was checked at the vet for a routine 6 month checkup even tho he was still tecnically nearer 5 lol!
he had put on 5kilos and they were pleased with his progress. i did mention he scratches himself a lot sometimes and i showed her a tiny tiny bald patch on his foot and tp of his head and the occasional nibble on foot. he was tested for fleas and he had none and she said it could be mites or an allergy and to keep an eye on him. to bring him back if concerned.
i decided to change his food gradually and if i can top up with jwb pouvhes too i wont have to give him anything else on top of his kibble everyday thats not jwb and see how he goes. i believe there are better kibble out there than royal and not happy with some of its ingedients. so far he is doing okay and his stools are firm and he's still his happy self

Re: jwb
Sorry, I feed raw so not much help there. However, raw is fantastic for skin allergies and clearing up the skin.

Re: jwb
Darcy did really well on jwb, we just change because she got bored I've not tried the wet pouches, but I know a few do add wet food to their kibble, although it doesn't have lots of benefits and it's made up of a high percentage of water, we just mix a little sardines or a fresh' raw egg into her kibble.

Re: jwb
thanks for replying
thanks roxys mom i've researched this and i know its good but just dont think its for me. i could watch him it raw egg and thats about it lol! plus i'd always b worrying if i'm giving him the right nutrients
hi broxi yes i'm gonna keep an eye on him and hopefully he doesnt get a bad reaction from jwb as you're all dogs dont agree with all brands even if they're good. i know a lot of people feed their dogs on wainwrights and its a good food glad you found the right one for brox
hi darcey-may i was thinking more of taste on top of kibble to encourage him to eat that was less a chance of allergies but he enjoys his fish and egg in his kibble and the bowl is clean. i guess i was wondering if i did this everyday it wouldnt be good for him? he wont eat kibble on its own as such, its like he just nibbles it
there's no concrete evidence he has any allergies but i wanted to change from royal and jwb seemed a good choice to try.
how often do you top with fish or egg? i give him sardines, mackerel, raw egg and chicken. im not a fan of wet food and i've never given him it just thought if jwb was ok as an alternative sometimes
if rotating fish egg and chicken is ok i guess id probrably stick with that?

Re: jwb
I give sardines/raw egg 2/3 times a week and cooked mince on a Saturday as a treat, I sometimes struggle getting darcy to eat dry kibble, I think the more variety she gets the fussier she is I think what your doing sounds ok, try him with a little wet to entice him but darcy wouldn't entertain it, remember some dogs can't be intolerant to chicken hope this helps

Re: jwb
Rocky has Barking Heads which is another brand of dry kibble we add a little cooked cooled chicken to it for him and he always eats it all. He was on JWB before and he got bored too so we changed to the Barking Heads TLC. I wouldn't feed the wet pouches by choice as they contain a lot of water too.

Re: jwb
JWB is ok, Debo was on it and was fine until we find out his alergic to turkey. He was sick for couple of weeks, visit to the vet and we got back to fish4dogs and all the problems were over. We used the wet food to as a topping to all king of dry food. If you want to change for a fish one I would go for fishr dogs.
