ears - Ears Empty Ears

Post by KonaRed Mon Oct 21 2013, 21:38

Hi All, Kona is 8 1/2 weeks old and i've had him for a few days now. When he first arrived, he had glue on both his ears as did the rest of the litter mates. I took the glue off the same day i took him home. The next day, i noticed his left ear starting to curl upwards. The breeder had mentioned that i shouldn't have taken the glue off and to re-glue it. However, im not sure how to, plus the breeder is in South Africa and i am in California. He said they glue the puppies ears to help set it properly. Any advise would be appreciated.

At 4 weeks.

I'd leave his ears exactly as they are, they're fine!

They Will do funny things between now and about 6 months old, especially once he starts teething. You can't possibly know how they will turn out until then.

It's really for showing, but there's no way you can tell how a puppy's ears will turn out. The ears can be rose or half pr1ck, so leave them alone.Wink

If the sire & dam have good ears, the likelihood is that the pups ill also have them.

Thanks All for the replies. Just wasn't sure what to do as the breeder says to do one thing and i'm inclined not to do anything.

He's gorgeous, I would just leave him and let them grow naturally Smile

I agree he is a little stunner , really never heard of this practice before and sounds a little ridiculous to me but I am uneducated .

They do this alot in English Bulldog circles to train the ears, specifically for showing purposes. I would leave them alone. They are perfect! x

Look at my Jasmines ears in my avatar. Her ears have always been sat on the top of her head like two dairylea triangles lol!!! But both mum and dad had perfect Staff ears, so im not worried at all.
