The Old Sea Dog

Here's Douglas, the Old Sea Dog, lending a hand on the weekend when my boat was getting craned out of the water.

And here we are earlier in the week when Douglas helped sail the boat across to Fife. On the train, still wearing his life-jacket, this boy has found his sea legs.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Douglas had a poor start in life and, despite being less than two years old, had already spent 9 months behind bars at the rescue before I managed to get him out in February. I stood in front of his cage and he was singing to me - everything about his past, and the future he wanted to have:

I wish I could share all the love that's in my heart
remove all the bars that keep us apart
I wish you could know what it means to be me
Then you'd see and agree
that every dog should be free.

I wish I could give all I'm longing to give
I wish I could live like I'm longing to live
I wish that I could do all the things that I can do
though I'm way overdue I'd be starting anew.
