halogen ovens
Does anyone cook with a halogen oven? I love mine and everything tends to come out nicely. So tonight, I thought I'd try a few rump steaks and am looking for advice

Re: halogen ovens
No sorry Lisa ours is all gas. I do prefer to cook with a gas hob and an electric oven though.

Re: halogen ovens
Yeah one of those Hayley! I've done chops and chicken roasts and portions etc which do come out beautifully...
Gas cookers only started becoming popular here a few years ago.

I thought it was one of those, have been looking to get one for a while now, so good to know.
Someone I do hair for was doing Jacket pots in there and they smelt lush.
Chips are good apparently too.

Jacket pots are the best in the halogen! I normally just soften them first in the microwave. Roast potatoes come out beautifully too. Roast chickens, chicken portions, pork chops... all those sorts of things are amazing: you can even cook them from frozen and they come out crispy on the outside and retain their juices!Inezmaria70 wrote:I thought it was one of those, have been looking to get one for a while now, so good to know.

Veggies are incredible too, especially if cooked on the lower rack under meat. I even do bacon in there and it's amazing
That's why I thought I'd try steak tonight, but no idea what time and temp! The halogen cooks thing a lot quicker.

Re: halogen ovens
Apparently they save electricity too since they heat up immediately - I use mine so often I wouldn't knowDarcy-may wrote:

She said they were lovely. She used cupcake moulds to make them a couple of times and they turned out ok, a bit of a funny shape but tasted the same.RoxysMum wrote:ooo I'd planned on yorkshire puddings too tonight :)Will see how they come out!

Re: halogen ovens
The OH was rushing as he had to get back to work for a meeting - so I forgot to take a pic However....
It was awesome!!!! He likes his steak well done so I stuck it in for 25 minutes, turning half way. Put the yorkshire puds in at the same time under the steak so the juices could drop onto them. Put my steak in for 15 minutes for a medium. They were juicy and cooked perfectly - not tough or dry. I'm well chuffed... especially since the OH is such a fussy eater I've never made him steak before! He is one pleased man. Served it with corn on the cob
